Hi All

I have been waiting for my 2nd, 2nd appointment at Wrightington as last saw new consultant on 13 Sept and he told me he needed to get all notes from old negative consultant and see me again in 8 weeks time...
Had app with disability advisor at job centre which was helpful and that were at 12 today and when i got back home brown envelope wa waiting for me...Inside it says old negative consultant whom i hate with a vengence, saying he wishes to see me on monday at 09.15am....I swore and ranted a bit and said didnt want to see this man in any circumstances as he had been such a **** to me, saying he couldnt help me any further, end of....I had to ring Wrightington, ask them if they knew why had been sent this, was i still on my new man's list to be seen? Yes, they said and they didnt know why letter had been sent can i call local hospital? So i did and through to appointments, they didnt know why id been sent letter, through to ****'s secretary who had about as much professionalism as a tramp at the Ritz....She told me she hadnt sent letter, i replied neither had i....she told me she wasnt in charge of appointments, neither was i, i told her...She eventually asked me what i wanted in an abrupt manner, i asked again could there be any explanation why it had been sent...She guessed it may be a mistake but not hers....Eventually she said did i wish to cancel, i said under no circumstances would i ever see Mr **** again as he was horrid and negative.....Appointment cancelled but why did they send it and why are they so arsey when you call to question it??? Wrightington secretary was lovely, take note local hospital, youre way off with your people skills...

GRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Elaine,
Just when you thought you were getting somewhere they go and muck you about. It's really frustrating and there's no communication between them, you would think as it is all NHS everything would be connected, the way they carry on you would think you were trying to talk to someone in siberia !!!!!!! I've just had something similar, in the same post I got 2 letters, one was an appointment for the new doctor I've been transferred to and the other was an appointment for the old one, who under no circumstances will I see again, he must be related to your old one ha-ha !!! When I tried to sort it out no one knew what was going on and one person even told me that the new doctor doesn't work at that hospital !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's about time they employed some intelligent people who know what they're doing. If it was me I'd say "I don't know what's going on but I'll find out and ring you back", it's not rocket science is it???
Rant over now, just letting you know you're not alone, it seems pretty widespread. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

    HI Sue

Well it would seem we have the same story but in different locations....What makes me laugh is if I had acted like the negative secretary in my prevuious jobs as receptionists and admin assistant I would be bollocked for being unhelpful and rude but it seems that its okay to treat people like this....I dont understand, but feel some people are too lax in their workplace and if they cannot be professional and do their job properly then they should give up their posts and let someone take over who can fulfill their duties appropriately....
I know there is talk in news at moment about NHS job cuts but it seems to me some are needed and they can sample life without their cushy pensions and holiday allowances....

Oh Elaine....one step forward and two steps back
You were nearly sorted and then this.
Why should we be the ones to have to chase them and ring secretgarys and hospitals???
Admittedly both the secretaries in my case are nice which is a big help
Sounds like the new secretary is nice?
    Hope so.....it really helps

Oh Elaine unfortunately the NHS employs some real numpties, I've not only experienced them 1st had but had Hubby come home with stories that make my blood boil. The NHS seems to be the world's biggest employer of rude incompetent secretaries 'that nothing is their fault' it's such a shame as it makes everybody elses job harder and everybody looks bad. I doubt the current job culls will lose as many of them as we'd hope. some genius up top will probably , with some twisted sense of logic, retain them and sack all the good ones!

    Hi Chrissie

Well yes it would seem the NHS does employ a lot of rude incompetent staff. I really dont know why they have such an attitude as if they are godlike and above us...It was almost as if she was bored with my query......How would she like it if the shoe had been on the other foot....
I know other people get this treatment but like I say i dont see a reason to be unpleasant at work and if you are then you need not to be there, permanent or otherwise...

    HI Toni

Well just reading that mans name and the fact I would possibly have to see him got my blood boiling literally. I couldnt comprehend going in to see that individual and not losing my temper at him or being as negative as he was/is....He is one of life's few people i can say I extremely dislike to put it mildly...
Once i got it sorted i was okay but i would not ever see that man, not even in helll.....
I slept okay as always take painkillers and watched football team who won last night so was fine...Wish Wrightington would hurry up and make other appointment....

    Hi Bambi

The more i read about this and it seems almost to be common practice it really annoys me....I suppose we are like machines needing services at times but it should be first class services....
We recently fought to keep our local hospital and now im kinda wondering why we did??

Hi. A friend of mine went to her surgery to ask about her steroid injection for RA,
The receptionist just looked at her and said 'only got one Dr who does that'
my friend waited a second then said 'Yes?'
receptionist said 'he's not in today'
    Friend waited then said 'And?'
receptionist said 'Oh he's gone on holiday for 3 weeks' and burst out laughing
    It's unbelievable isn't it :!:

    Hi Elaine,
Haven't been around for a while, just been lurkiing ........ have been soooooo fed up!

However .. just popped in (hope nobody minds) to say a big, big thank you for the title of your post - I've just laughed for the first time in days. The content is not at all amusing but the title says it all .... all that all of us think!

I had an 'insultant', as I call them, like this and I demanded a change. Now I've got a rheumy with a different attitude. I have often wondered if they all attend a course on 'how to be bloody minded'. From your post it makes me wonder if you attend the same hospital as me and it's not all that far from Wrightington.

I now have another one - different clinic. I'm going to ask straight out next time I see him just why he treats me in such an off-hand manner when he is paid to look after the most precious thing I have ... what's left of my health!

I'll be thinking about you and hope someone sorts all this out. Thinking about the letter ... maybe he's had his backside kicked... hopefully. And yes, I'd have been walking down the road looking for a job for half the cheek they dish out now.

    Hi Dolittle

Glad Ive made you laugh, i say it as i see it and if someone is offended then they can tackle me on that issue....

I think i have worded my post wrongly maybe....I live in Kendal that is the **** hospital, Wrightington is the one I have only been to once and am pleased so far.....That is my second opinion choice and I have only heard good things about it.....

Im glad you are getting to see someone better for your precious health and it is you know, maybe not to them, im convinced some of the insultants (good word) see us as mere annoyances.......

    Keep your pecker up....

    Hi Toni,
Thanks for your message ... it really is appreciated. Taken a while to answer 'cos I keep damned well falling asleep! It's pathetic!

We're about to start a house re-vamp and I mean re-vamp. I'm busy trying to stuff things in boxes to clear out my bedroom. It's one box every two hours when I manage to stay awake. My clothes are just about to spend a few weeks in the shed in wardrobe boxes. Hopefully the moths won't re-style them or my neighbours see me hobbling down the back path (I won't say passage), in my frilly underwear (as if) to find something to cover this baggy body I live in. Still it'll look ever so posh when it's done - you can all come round to tea!

Thanks for the support. Have a decent day.

    Hi Elaine,

That's a bit of a drive for you! Still, I've heard only good about Wrightington - I live not a million miles away and the locals here all have good things to say about their treatment. Met an elderly lady who'd had an ankle fusion there and you would hardly know she'd had it done. It's so worth the effort to get to some good treatment - there is so much of the other about.

Hope your appointment is constructive and helpful to you.
I wish you as well as you can be.

After seeing doc today for other ailments she said i have to leave my 2nd 2nd opinion a week or so then call up the lovely local hospitals consultant secretary who could strip wallpaper with her tone of voice alone...Oh the joys, why are they dragging their feet over sending my notes????
