Dear all

I know that quite of you on here really like cats. My nannie also loved cats and so I am going to read this little story on Friday at her funeral as I know that she would of liked it. So I thought I would share it all with you as well and I hope I give it justice on Friday.

When God Made Cats

When God made the world, He chose to put animals in it, and decided to give each whatever it wanted. All the animals formed a long line before His throne, and the cat quietly went to the end of the line. To the elephant and the bear He gave strength, to the rabbit and the deer, swiftness; to the owl, the ability to see at night, to the birds and the butterflies, great beauty; to the fox, cunning; to the monkey, intelligence; to the dog, loyalty; to the lion, courage; to the otter, playfulness. And all these were things the animals begged of God. At last he came to the end of the line, and there sat the little cat, waiting patiently. "What will YOU have?" God asked the cat.

The cat shrugged modestly. "Oh, whatever scraps you have left over. I don't mind."

"But I'm God. I have everything left over."

"Then I'll have a little of everything, please."

And God gave a great shout of laughter at the cleverness of this small animal, and gave the cat everything she asked for, adding grace and elegance and, only for her, a gentle purr that would always attract humans and assure her a warm and comfortable home.

But he took away her false modesty.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for reading the tribute. I think it does sum up cats. Don't worry Mellman, you did not offend me actually you made me laugh, but I thought I would let you stew a bit!!

Well today went to the printers to arrange the order of service booklet and that is all sorted. Tomorrow there is a memorial service in the town where she lived, so going to that in the morning and then funeral service is on Friday. To be honest I am glad that the day is nearly here as the last week as really dragged on.

I went to Te*co's with my sister today and she saw this black and white stripy jumper with a large cat on it in the sale. She tried it on and it had me in pieces, she looked so funny, it was not flattering at all. I dared her to wear it to the funeral but she did not buy it. There would not of been a straight face in the house especially when I got up to read my bit. Oh, but it did make me laugh. My nannie had a knitting machine and she used to knit up jumpers when we were little. They were just long pieces stitched together and with all stripes of left over wool. They were hideous, had no shape and my mum made us wear it. That is why that jumper made me laugh so much.

Thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it.

    Dear all

Thanks for your kind replies frogmorton and DD. I really appreciate your thoughts, I could feel them. The only really horrible thing was it was a really wet, windy and foggy day here and by 3.30his pm it was nearly dark.

The rest of the family have just left to go back to Nottingham and I have got home. I feel really shattered to going to take a couple of days out resting as I know I need it. Hopefully I will be able to get some decent sleep now.

    Take care

The board is looking great - need to figure my way around it. It seems much brighter than the old one, may need sun glasses, lol

Hi rainbow, thanks for letting us know that you are OK. You take as much time as you need, it has been a very tough time for you. Perhaps the weather reflected the sadness of the occasion - my dad was cremated on a bright, sunny day in July 02 - it seemed all wrong. Thinking of you: take care and rest well. DD
