Hi all
Been quiet for a wee while hope you are all well, reason being did too much about the house, and ended up putting my back out :( wont tell you how i did it, a bit embarassing

ANYWAY Dr origionaly diagnosed me with OA of the lower back, now that has been changed to RA of the spine.

They only decided that once they took more X-Rays after putting my back out.

Has any other member had the same experience of being diagnosed with the wrong Arthritis? or is it the normal thing for diagnoses to be changed?

Would love to know. But whatever way it is, Darn it, still got the old Arthritis.

Regards
Mags

I lost track of the diagnoses I had in the early days. The difficulities began in 1997, the fist diagnosis was PVNS (pigmented villonodular synovitis) in 2002 and four years later I ended up with PA (psoriatic arthritis). The name doesn't matter (although it does identify the enemy), the right treatment does. I hope they can do something to help you.

Regarding your back trouble - my imagination about what you did is running riot. :D I hope it settles soon, tho. DD

    Hi Maggie,

nice to see you posting again... but sorry you've had such trouble with your back. :(

I think that sometimes diagnosing which of the arthers we have can be difficult unless it's very obvious from the bloods/ initial tests. Other than that it's how the disease presents itself and what damage it does as seen on Xray or MRI that fills in the gaps and leads to a more conclusive diagnosis!

as you say... it's still arther :? but the treatment may be very different as not all the arthers are treated the same way.

I do hope that you've been given something for the pain?

You poor thing - something so innocuous set off your back - it's always the way, isn't it? You didn't have to tell me tho - I was only trying to make you smile. I apologise. DD

Yup, my swain-launching-from-a-wardrobe days are long gone. And the chandelier-swinging. It's a dull life. DD

Aww, you almost had me blushing then, lol..

Hope the pain eases soon, my back goes at the slightest thing too.. Think I will avoid toilet rolls for a while just in case, lol..
I'd rather it be from a chandelier type incident

Sorry to hear of your experience.

I was initially diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and then rediagnosed with PolyArthritis and SLE (a form of Lupus).

I think the problem is that so many of the conditions are mimics however through time and focus I hope that we are all correctly diagnosed sooner rather than later so we can get on the correct meds.

    Good luck.
