I managed to get everybody up, washed, fed and dressed in time for trip to the hospital for my steroid. we had a look at my recent x-rays and its showing osteo arthritis in both knees and hip-I only had osteo in my ankle previously. Anyway I see my rheummy 3rd Sept so will chat about it with her, she'll prob say its RA damage.

It is very hot here, I was quite surprised as it was cold last night.

Barbara Dan records dogs whining, barking, washing machines, some conversation and then plays them on repeat. He's got super sensitive hearing and some noises distress him and some amuse him!

I booked our holiday to Cornwall for next May. Thought I'd plan ahead for a change!

Bless Lexi Joan. That would have caused infection and discomfort, luckily it was picked up so hopefully now she her leg will improve.

Kath migraines are awful, headache is bad enough. Now we do have vintage cookery books as they are full of good advice.

Mig that is a good result for SIL and you must all be so relieved.

I'm really sorry I'm yawning away so will sign off. Hope Cate, Toni and Toady get to pop back.I've only just got up so can't really go back to bed.The kids wanted pizza take-away so no cooking to do.

christine I love chocolate I'll have your share but then I also love salted caramel ice cream. I also bypass ironing the bedding, I have to be in the mood to do the other stuff.
    Hope everyone stays well,
    Elizabeth xxxxx

Barbara, did you get your ironing done. If not, there's always tomorrow. My son isn't having much luck selling his house. There are a couple of houses no-one seems interested in and a couple which have sold within days. Will you get to see the scarecrows?

Kath, I've heard that migraine sufferers often feel really sick. Awful. I hope you're right about the heat wave but, then again, you're right, it will probably be too hot. :too-hot:

Elizabeth, well done on getting everyone ready. It must be quite a feat. My OA seemed to get worse very quickly, going from a tiny bit in one little finger to quite a bit in both feet and hands in 5 years. Cornwall is a lovely place. You'll have a lovely time to look forward to now. You can share my chocolate with Kath if she hasn't already eaten it.

Joan, I'm glad Lexi is happy again. It is a worry when they are not well.

We had a bit of a disaster at work today. My boss had asked BT to put in another phone line. They didn't turn up. When my boss phoned up to find out why, he was told they had been and had installed the phone line. Turns out they had got the number of the house right but the wrong street. Why the people there allowed them to go in to their house and put a phone line in is a mystery.

Anyway, BT turned up today to do it. As the young lad was drilling a hole in the wall in the office, I heard my boss shout out that he must have hit a pipe. When I looked, there was a big puddle of dirty water right in the middle of the dark cream carpet. Everyone started running round trying to switch off the water and clean up the mess as they were worried the water would get in to the business computers. Fortunately they were ok. I heard the lad say to my boss that he had asked if there were pipes in the wall. How was my boss supposed to know that? BT's head office said that my boss had to find his own plumber to fix it and claim from his own insurance. He was furious.

I got a text off the water board about an hour ago saying they were fixing a problem in my area and the water might go off for a while. Just been up to close the bedroom curtains and there's a big brown river in the street, a couple of water board vans down the road and a digger has just arrived. Not surprised really as there has been so much rain. :swim-shark:

We went to the theatre yesterday for a matinee performance of East is East what a cracker of a show so funny.
SIL is moving to a rehab centre she needs to learn how to use various aids that will help her when she goes home, she said while she can cope on her own she wants to stay in her home.
Hope you all have a good day Mig

I hope the 'brown' water has gone Christine :?

    Eeuuuwww!!

Will the people with the unsolicited extra phone line have to pay extra line rental I wonder???

Sorry I have been awol again - had rheumatology yesterday and, as I expected, had a blood test for VitD!! I should be ok as I am just back from all that sun in France :deckchair:

    Lots going on I see.

Mig I am so very happy to hear the news about your SIL...such a relief. I hope the oT thinks it's safe for her to return home.

Joan I hope Lexi is on the mend now bless her. I hope they are both insured!! ((()))

Hi Elizabeth :) Not great news about xrays wonder what rheumy will say :? Dan's recordings sound random, but if he enjoys them I think it can only be a good thing. Salted caramel ice-cream is the best thing EVER!!!

Hi Kath. I hope your Emily is much better today I do feel for her as migraine are rife here. Does she have rizatriptan then? Charley has those for her hemiplegic migraines.

Barbara - I bet you'll be far more worried about the little one's tonsils than your MRI, but you do need your sinuses sorted.

Off to see 'Inside' with Tia and Lucy this afternoon :)

    Love to you all

The sun's out at last. HOORAY. :splash:

Toni, hope the sun in France has done you good.

mig, your SIL seems to have a positive outlook. I hope the rehab centre can provide her with the right equipment for her to remain at home as long as she can.

Christine, that sounds so gross. I hope all the brown water has been cleared away.

Joan, good news about Lexi, but it doesn't sound as though your appointment has come through yet. :(

Elizabeth, it must be difficult to find out which of your problems is caused by RA and which by Osteo. :o

Found a new craving. Popcorn. I really wanted plain, but could only find sweet or salty, so trying the sweet first. Somehow don't fancy the salty. :?

Mig, I loved the film East is East. I can imagine it making a great play. Bet you SIL is looking forward to getting back home.

Toni, I think they finished the repair soon after midnight. The water had gone this morning but it looked as if they'd been sweeping up a lot of mud. Hope your test does come back ok. As you say, it should do. Hope you enjoyed the film.

Kath, I like popcorn occasionally but only associate it with going to the cinema. I prefer the sweet one.

Barbara, you did right getting out today. Make the most of the weather. The water in the road has gone now but looks as if they had swept up a lot of mud. It usually floods right outside my house but it was a bit further down the road this time. £859? Wow. I got over £100 back once and thought that was a lot. I changed my fuel provider a few years ago but check every now and again. I've stayed with the same one but changed the package to a cheaper one. Ooooh, Barbara, I'm so sorry I encouraged you to buy ice cream. I'm being a good girl I am. I did buy some lollies earlier in the week but walked past the ice cream again. I did a bit of research and found my favourite at the moment - the raspberry M*gn*ms - have 270 calories each. Mind you, I guess that's less than a whole tub. :sun:

I got my passport out to check when it runs out and found it does next February so I need to renew it before I go to Australia. Just as well I checked. The form looks easy enough to fill in but they make you feel uneasy by telling you it has to be filled in just right or it will be refused. And the post office charge over £9 just to check you've done it right.

Hello all, it's gorgeous here. sunny and very warm, but a bit breezy. :sunny:

Barbara, I'm glad you liked Emily's books. She loves them, as you could probably tell from her blog. She baked a meat and vegetable pie from the recipe book yesterday and sent us a photo. Looked delicious. :P I was shocked at how much your ex-energy supplier owed you. Hope you get it all back.

Christine, the pop corn I have is the cinema style sweet one. I've got to cut out the chocolate and car*macs, I've put 2lbs on since last week. :o

Sending good wishes to Elizabeth, Joan, Toady, Cate, mig, Toni, hope you are having lovely sunny weather too.

Goodness me I feel so well! The steroid injection has been an almighty success. I have a permanent smile on my face. I wonder how long it will last?

So I'm hoping to have a small holiday Sun-Wed as its the only time we have free. I have found a last minute vacancy - a lovely quiet place with a heated swimming pool- however they don't want children under 13 so I'll have to phone and double check (Lucy is 11, nearly 12).

How funny that BT put a line in a different property. I wonder if they had an appointment too? It might be an inconvenience if they are with another phone provider! I wouldn't know if there were water pipes behind which walls so its an easy mistake to make.

The two foxes have been out-and-about in the daylight, plus the squirrel has been tree hopping so its been a day for spotting wildlife.

Well done Barbara for changing gas and electric company, that is a lot of money to get back and very welcome I'm sure. My company always put my bills up and I'm always in credit. I did challenge them once but now I just wait to get sent a credit at the end of each year and its always over £100.
I'm a M L fan too especially as it was his prompting that me a welcome refund from the endowment mortgage mis-selling.

Its good to hear from you Toni. I bet your exhausted. I'm sure you got plenty of vit D but some of us need an extra dose.

Kath I can't eat popcorn, I find it makes my cough dreadful so be careful.

Mig I'm glad SIL is able to return home.

Right I'm off up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire. I might even have spare energy read a good book.

    Love to all

Sadly the under 13 rule is for insurance purposes. I must say I am disappointed as I had a lovely image of lounging by a heated pool eating fresh farm produce, while the kids got so much needed exercise.

Oh well I've bookmarked it for 2017 and looking elsewhere for some kind of a break.

Indeed the money is yours Barbara but it is easy to forget about. But my goodness that was a big sum! Good luck with the present buying for the little one. I'm still waiting on what to get a 7 year old as her Mum mentioned a voice changer (Star Wars) but I need a bit more info than that.

Well I ca see it is quiet on here being the weekend. The weather isn't brilliant here, hope it is nice elsewhere.

I haven't see Cate online so I hope she is doing okay. Toady will be busy I expect and Toni is probably catching up. Did you enjoy the film Toni?

Hello everyone, hope all are feeling the benefit of this lovely warm sun. :hammock:

I've just posted a poll about which articles we turn to first when our Inspire magazine arrives. If anyone does it, it will be interesting to see the results. Mind you, I've only put 5 options as most articles are unique to the individual magazines. I just put 5 that are regular items in each copy. Hope I've explained that simply enough. :?

Elizabeth, you must be delighted with the results of your injection. Long may it last for you. :D I hope you managed to find somewhere for a short holiday with no age limits.
    :bouncing-ball:

Joan, I've never had a passport either, nor a driver's licence. Not essential for us, but they do come in handy for proof of identity. Shame they won't accept our bus pass.

Barbara, the strange thing about buying a present for a young child, is that they usually ignore the toy and play with the box. Hope it doesn't take long for your money to be refunded.

Sending best wishes to all, and to Cate, Toady, toni, mig, Christine and anyone else I've missed.

Just popping in for a minute to say hello as I'm really tired and my eyes are quite blurry. I've been in to town for the festival. The parade was brilliant but not much else going on. It's on again tomorrow so might pop in and see if that's any better.

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

Poor Elizabeth!! What a disappointment that Lucy is too young for the holiday! :(

I am so sorry because you need a break and a heated pool would have been wonderful.

I did enjoy the film - being the big kid I am!!! Thank you.

The best news though that your jab had helped you so much :)

How much did your energy supplier owe Barbara? Paul discovered ours owed us £2,000!!!!!!! Seriously they had been really overcharging us and estimating bills based on houses without my husband in them

What did you get baby for her birthday present in the end?

Joan I am glad to hear you had sun and totally agree we all benefit from sunshine :) I hope you and Sue are well and Lexi too is recovering now.

We buy the popcorn you 'pop' in the microwave Kath Lucy really loves nibbling on it watching TV. I think it's pretty low in calories. I also adore caramacs....the problem is that t*sco sell 3 for £1.20 :?

Thank you we had sunshine(ish) until about 4 then the rain came

Christine - read the leaflet with your passport - you might not even need photos signed if it's a simple renewal.

They cost so much though, but totally worth the effort to go to Australia!!!! :):):)

I am glad the river has gone now at least :)

Hope your eyes have recovered overnight with a good rest?

I do hope cate is ok :?

Barbara, I'm with nP*w*r. I'm able to send a reading every month and can see on a graph how much I am using each month and compare it to last year. It also says how much money each month costs. Yes, the passport form is really easy to fill in. They don't ask much but scare you by saying it has to be exact. Hope the appointment doesn't change. You have waited way too long for it. The little ones are happiest with something simple, aren't they? I'm sure the baby will enjoy whatever you get her.

Kath, I managed to catch up with both blogs. The recipes back then were very healthy. None of the processed foods we have now. It was lovely reading the history and seeing the pictures of your area. There should be something else that can be used for identity purposes. Not everyone has a driver's license or passport.

Joan, I'm glad you got some sunshine. We had a little bit but mostly overcast and still raining a lot.

Great to hear you are feeling well Elizabeth. I sometimes leave the excess my fuel company charges using it as a savings account. That is so disappointing that Lucy is too young. Hope you find something similar.

Hope you had a good day out yesterday Toni. I've seen the cheap offers on chocolate too but I've managed to stay away from them for a while now. Might have to try the popcorn as I'm always looking for something to nibble on. I checked about the photos and was glad to see I didn't need to get them signed. I look scared stiff on them. I got the post office to check I'd done it all properly despite the £9 something. £82 altogether. Scandalous really. It took all of 1 minute to check it. Later I told my DIL I'd done it and she said they had all 3 of theirs checked and one still came back because of a mistake. Thanks. My eyes are a bit better this morning. Slept a bit later than usual. Think that helped.

Spent the day in town yesterday. The Riverside Festival was on. There was a parade which was really good. A lot of work was put in to it and the kids looked so proud of themselves. There were acts going on around the town but we were a bit disappointed with those. The best is usually the night shows but we didn't go as my DIL was going out with friends and my GD wasn't well. I was tired so quite happy to stay in. It's on again today so not sure as it's threatening to rain again.

    Hello everyone,

Been staying with a friend who lives in a lovely part of Cheshire. I'm a fair bit older than her but we get on so well. She says I'm young at heart, and look years younger than I am. Aw, bless, she needs Specsavers! I met her fifteen years ago, when we both did the same degree as mature - very mature in my case! - students at uni, and we just hit it off. We went down to the Cotswolds for a few days, then stayed a couple of nights in Oxford, before heading back to Cheshire, taking the scenic route on all the B roads. She did most of the driving and looked after me the whole time. So lovely. We are planning to do it all again in October.

I haven't read back yet to see what everyone's been up to, so I'll have a coffee and do that now......Much love to you all.......Cate.x

Almost said good morning, but noticed it's gone 1pm, so good afternoon. :hammock:

Yesterday I started the new regime with Pred that my rheumy suggested back in May. Continue on 10mg, but every alternate day instead of every day. OK, until yesterday afternoon when I had a funny turn and almost blacked out. One of my FB pals suggested it could have been caused by a drop in blood pressure due to a reduction in the tablets. I have hypertension anyway and take tablets for it. It could have been drop in pressure, as I felt the same when in hospital once and in my confusion I told the nurse 2 Felodopine instead of one. Won't make that mistake again. :? Anyway, rheumy said if I feel ill after trying it for a while I can go back to daily again. I will give it a week to see.

Barbara, I hope all goes well at the pain clinic. :sun:

Cate, glad you had a lovely day with your friend. I've never been to the Cotswolds, but it always looks gorgeous on TV and in photos.
    :splash:

Christine, I bought a pack of Butter**st with 5 packs in. Strawberry flavour and four others, a mix of sweet and salty. The strawberry ones were lovely.
    :island-shark:

Toni, popcorn is also supposed to be very good for you. But I do wonder about the sugar or salt content in them. I've seen the microwave ones - must try some one day.

We've had a very healthy dinner today, chicken Korma with Uncle S**s rice and quinoa, peas and sweetcorn and mushrooms. Delicious.

Waving to Joan, Toady, Elizabeth and mig, hope you are well. xxx

    :deckchair:
