Hello Julnat, and it is nice to meet you. There are quite a lot of Polish people who now live in the Scottish Highlands, and I have got to know some of them through my church.
Sometimes arthritis can show itself in one joint or part of the body then show itself in other parts of the body (that is what happened to me). Also, it can sometimes be hard to diagnose: I was in a lot of pain before the doctors finally diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis and then ostioarthritis.
Make sure you get all the tests and make sure the doctors - both your GP and the hospital doctors - tell you everything. Don't be afraid to ask any questions about things you are not sure of. If you don't understand any words or phrases they use, ask them to explain them. Also, if you feel it would help, you should ask for an interpreter who can translate into Polish for you (though your English seems fine to me - as someone else said, far better than my Polish).
I'm not sure your doctor should have been laughing: pain from arthritis isn't funny.
Anyway, all the best for the new year, and look after yourself.
Best wishes,
Kevin.0
