Morning everybody

I do hope that you are all well and that blooming arthur isn't bugging you too much.

You may remember a few weeks ago I went for an MRI scan on my neck. well the results are back. The postman just delivered the letter.

I have severe damage to the verebral bones and severe inflamation and damage to the odontoid peg. (gonna look that one up) :?

The rhummy people are sending a copy of these results to the neurosurgeons in leeds to seek furthur advice or the neuro might just send me an appointment.

Just thought I ought to let you know as you were all supportive towards me when I was scared of going into the scanner.

Love Juliepf x

I hope that you're ok, that sounds like a bit of a shock result, or were you aware of how things were..?
We have some great Docs here in Leeds...

Are you under the Rheumatologists here?

I am under a Doctor Martin (I think) at St. James's.. Only seen him three times though as my RA was only diagnosed in March.
Had Osteo for many years though and have seen some really good Orthapeadics at LGI and Chapel Allerton..

    Hi tony
Was uder proff bird at leeds. Chappel allerton. been under their rheumy care for 22 years but as the proff is retiring I have decided to go to dewsbury. I have had RA for 22 years. The neck has never been xrayed befor even when i have mentoined the pain. It is dewsbury that has found this out and i will admit it has come as a bit of a shock. I didn't expect it to be this bad.

Dewsbury is nearer and because i am new to them seem to be giving me a good over all.

It's tough to get such news, juliepf, but you are a resilient old bird as we know - flamingos are far tougher than they look! I know that quite a few on here have had neck problems so I hope they will be able to offer some advice about treatments and help etc. I don't know what to suggest but I would like to know what the odontoid peg is - I shall Bing that! Take care and I hope they can come up with some answers for you. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hi Julie - were you expecting the results to come in the post?

Do you have an imminent appointment to discuss them with a consultant?

I seem to have missed updates since you had your bursa removed. Is it all healed? Are you able to wear your artificial leg? Can you walk about/weight bear again etc?

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi speedy

Hope you are reasonably well today.

The bursa ws removed but the little hole that fluid tracked from is still there. only the size of a blooming pin head but still there. I am able to wear my leg and weight bear on it but cant walk without my walker and only a few steps. Atleast i can scramble to scootr and crawl down side of car to get in. :) I have been out alone in car twice now. :) got a hoist in back for scoot.

Results from mri . I have nevr hd resuts postd to me before, i have had to wait for appointments, to discuss results, I am glad that they are keepin me informed. I am waiting for rhummy to post an appointment to see me soon. They will prob wait til either they or me hear from neuro people.

How are your insoles doing, helping i hope. (I have got that right have I )

    Hi Julie

Ouch, that sounds very painful, you poor thing.

But at least you know what you're dealing with, and hopefully it means the docs will be able to help treat it.

Would some VERY gentle massage help in the meantime (a big, burly bloke with oily hands)

    Look after yourself,
    luv, Lynn x

    Hi Julie,

that is a real nuisance about the pin head sized hole. Are the medics being proactive about trying ideas to get it heal over?

Reading your account of going out on your own in the car - wow!! You are one plucky lady!! Worth it though and better than being stuck in the house - must take it out of you though.

Hope the neuro people get in touch asap.

Fancy you remembering my insoles! The first set of insoles that I had from podiatry were refined at my second appointment and I was also given a new set ... they are of unforgiving rigid plastic and not comfy ... so have put them on the back burner at present (still using modified first ones) as feel with return to work etc my body has enough to contend with. Wearing-in new insoles takes time and you suffer aches and pains along the way. I walk much better with the (old, modified) insoles than without - but they only seem to work in one pair of shoes ....
