Alan

is this story true?

If it is it is a wonderful story - a proper claim to fame and you should be really really proud of yourself.

I hope some family were there to witness your moment of glory?

LOve

I can sympathise with you on losing your sport, although mine was much later bloody OA took my job as well and all my plans for moving down to Pembrokshire, my hobby was radio controlled gliders I was addicted to it spent all my time on a hill with me old mate Steve, it takes a lot to get your head around, been 3 years almost for me and it's still not there yet, to many dark clouds around at the mo.
Sorry that you can't play cricket

Hi Alan, maybe you needed a Yorkshireman to bowl you out... Lol

Just kidding mate, I don't even understand the game, let alone have the ability to throw a ball..

At least you have that memory eh? And it's one to be proud of..

Ha Ha, I played against Walsden near Todmorden quite a lot from what I can remember. B....dy Hell, thats where men are real men.
Top people up there, and used to really feed us up at half time, so much we used to put half a stone on.
I can remember when my ankle first went....... it just sort of ballooned up like a egg, and was very hot. Weeks later my hands started to go on the blink, with strange pains in my wrists and fingers.
One day I walked off the pitch knowing that I would never play again, went to bed and cried like a baby, never mind alanmancunian

Life can be bloody cruel eh?
I used to really enjoy walking for miles, just me and the wife, but now I can't walk too far and the missus got a virus in 2007 that gave her heart failure! So we take short waks together, haha...

PS, they were probably filling you up on purpose so you couldn't run!

Ah Alan, I'm sorry that your cricketing career wasn't to be, but you can treasure that claim to fame regarding Garfield Sobers. That was excellent for a 17- year- old :!: :D I'm impressed :!: :D

Yeh, lovely scenery up there, love the place. A bit like you, I'd struggle to walk 100 yrds now. Good chippy in Walsden, Grandma Pollards, legend of a place, Good luck for the future Alanmancunian

    Cheers Alan, you too mate.
