not of any thing manky! but have just spent a few minutes rubbing deep heat in to my sore areas and only now realise that I smelll quite strongly! I am using it as paracetamol and brufen are not helping - can any one advise me on a less strongly smelling cream for some relief. I also use a hot water bottle at night and am still seeing the physio weekly for pain relieving ultrasound but am still struggling. thanks x

    Hi Spacey (stinky!!!)

    there are loads!!!

    I have used ibuprofen like theis (but if yo are on it orally might not be such a good idea) and there is violterol and movelat gels.

    I think i would ask the pharmacist if he recommends one?

    Love

    Hi.....Yes voltarol doesnt stink nearly as much as deep heat or some of the others.....be careful if you are using oral anti inflammatories.....I have 1 75mg slow release diclofenic at night and thats it....so if I feel I need to use something else I use it in the morning or early afternoon. {I take paracetamol as well}

    Hi, have you tried capsaicin cream, no odour to it.. It's made from chillies, my Pain Clinic Doc got me to try it, you have to use it regularly for it to work right, I have been using it on my wrists for about 3 weeks now and it is definately helping, I can do my excersises a bit easier at least.
    Be warned though, ot can feel hot on your skin, so please make sure you got to the loo before you put the cream on and not do what I keep doing and forget, do it the other way round, then sob a little bit!! :shock: :lol:

    Hi Spacey I would definitely ask your pharmacist what alternatives they can recommend.

    But if nothing else works .... then members of the public - TOUGH!!

    Speedy
    I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    That must be like Tiger Balm, boy does that get hot, especially, as you say, if you forget to wash your hands well. Don't rub your eyes, or anything else, (WOnky warning).

    Arnica Gel is not bad and has helped me in the past, you can buy it online, or at the Chemists. The full strength ones are not cheap, they sell it on QVC. There are so many creams about
    XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).

    I can say that Arnica Gel has helped me at times when other things haven't, but I haven't had the urge to resort to deep heat, so can't be certain that the two would do the same job.

    hope you find something to help you out, but until then ..... does it really matter what others think if you are getting some relief from your symptoms?

    WOnky (who could have done with the wonky warning before she cut up chillies yesterday and then rubbed her eyes - yes eyes and only eyes :wink: - and regretted it!)
