Hi all, I was just hoping for a bit of advice, the whole RA thing is still pretty new to me, the OA is old hat though.. I was just wondering, my neck and shoulders have been bothering me for a few days now, the RA os in my hands and wrists and shoulders/neck have never hurt before.. Now I was putting it down to the awkward position I have to get myself in to use the pc that's at the side of the bed, I basically have to lay on my left side propped up on a couple of bolsters as I can't sit for too long due to my OA in my spine.. The thing is my neck is really 'crunchy' now when I turn it, is it just me being a bit paranoid or is it something I should let my Rheumy look at whenever I go next? Thanks in advance, I really am happy I found this site..

    HI tony

If I were you I would go to Rheummy and ask for neck xray.

As you have prob read in my post of mri result I too am having probs with neck and spine. If I had had this done earlier they would have spotted my problem. Now my rhummy people have sent my result to neuro surgeons. (I am hoping no surgery and that they will inject me.)

Please go and ask the rhummys advice.

I get a crunchy neck thanks to the crutches and sleeping rigidly due to pain - my whole body can tense up. I have a therapeutic massage once a fortnight from a sports masseur (no gently-tickling fingers from her, it's a deep massage) and that helps me a great deal. That keeps everything moving nicely. She has also shown me a couple of exercises to help my neck but whether they would be appropriate for you as you have OA in your spine I do not know. Could you find a better position for your PC? That does sound awkward. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Thanks julie & DD, I think I will try and chase up my rheumy appt anyway, it seems ages since I went and I am supposed to be having regular steoid injections in mi bum.. I might also mention it to the physio when I go a wk monday. I really wish we could move the pc but it's not feasible at the minute.
Thanks again, I just didn't know if it could be Arthur or not, I know it can come on quite quickly as before Jan/Feb this yr I had no probs with my hands and wrists, now they're prety bad.

Stay well you two, and I hope you get your injections and not have to have an op!
