I went to the physio yesterday and had a nice girl who examined me and was much more gentle to say the least! She thinks the problems are with the muscles in my soulders and neck doing too much work and overstreching as my joints are not able to take the weight. She has given me some gentle exercises and a referral to the Gym I went to before with the medical trainers. She also said that palates is a good idea and the place I'm waiting to go to is busy because its very good! :) I have to ring if I get any 'excessive pain'. I have to go back later in the month to see how I'm doing and change the exercises. She didn't say anything I didn't know, but she did give me written exercises, so I'll remember and examined me. So I'm much happier now. Love Sue :)

    Hi Sue,

that sounds a positive appointment. Hope the exercises help. It is good having a follow up in the pipeline, to review the exercises and your progress/difficulties. The gym referral sounds good as does the pilates - even there is a wait. Would probably be too much anyway to start physio and gym and pilates all at the same time!!

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Sue :D

So glad you had a much better experience this time and that you found it more positive. Do hope the exercises help and that you don't have to wait too long for the pilates class.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

That sounds much better - I hope she has restored your faith in physios! Good luck with the Pilates, I wish I could do something like that but I can't stand still for long enough. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Thank you, she explained things properly and wasn't confrontational. It did make a big difference. She also gave me printed notes and drawings, so I should be able to cope better and know what I'm supposed to be doing!!!

So, thanks for all the help, I was so lucky. Love Suexxx
