Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on our trip to Liverpool. It was absolutely wonderful-what a brilliant, brilliant city! And I grew up in Birmingham so I can say that with some knowledge.
We stayed at Novotel and I did manage to walk down to Albert Dock and do the tours, I did walk back from the ferry to the hotel once but ended up in tears -that was just too far, we couldn't see a taxi anywhere, typical.
I loved all the Beatles bits, the Ferry across the Mersey, the U boat (sooo huge) the open top bus tour and we found Penny Lane, Strawberry field, John and Paul's houses in our car with the help of the sat nav. We had some lovely meals and even stayed an extra night thanks to Mr Tesco and his vouchers.
The cathedrals look marvelous but we didn't get to visit those this time. My favorite was the cavern club where I had a little dance (heavens! the knees!) to think the Beatles played there..........
I do recommend this trip, how wonderful it would be to be able to walk well and do so much more.
Have a good weekend all
Love and hugs
Sue Gibbons

Sue, I am so glad you had a great time. I LOVE it when people get blown away by our city. It is the best isn`t it?

Every time someone posts, it brings back all the wonderful memories of being around during the Merseybeat era. Yes, and actually meeting the Fab Four before they became mega!

Don`t leave it too long before you come back........Ange.x.

    Hi Sue

I'm so glad that you enjoyed your trip to Liverpool. It sounds as though you did a lot in the time, and you visited all the places where I went recently. I am going back for a second visit soon because I didn't have time to see the two cathedrals, and I also want to see the art exhibition at the Tate again before it closes at the end of November.

Ange, how fantastic to have met the Beatles before they were well known :!: :!: Brilliant :!: :D

    Joan :D

Met the fab four ooooooooooooooo  jeeeealous
I was weaned on the Beatles-I'm "only" 52 (53 next week) but my brother is 12 years older and played them constantly on his Dansette. He still has those origonal viynal discs, they must be worth something now.
I remember lying in bed aged about 9 wishing I was either married to Lennon or a nurse......I qualified in 1980  Oh well be careful what you wish for!!!
Thanks again to all, it's great to have your mind off the aches and pains for a while, so many problems and unhappy folk in pain on this forum. Wish i had some magic.
Thank God for the forum, it saved my sanity- if not my life- after my horrible knee replacement.
Lots of love to you all

    Hi Sue
I am so glad you enjoyed Liverpool, we use to go beatle spotting when we where young.
The only one I ever saw was George Harrison, he was a real gentleman, and so funny.
One day I will do tour, you have made it sound so good.
    Love
