Hi,
Remember how I was playing "chase the consultant" a while back. The last I heard was that he wanted to see me in Dec. Still no news so i rang his secretary to check. She said "have you not got an appt for Dec yet"? No.......Possibly its because we are moving hospitals....they are waiting until we make the move??? I said it would be nice to know when the appt was in Dec to make arrangememnts around it
I could hear her muttering to herself as she was going through the computer....she eventually said there are no free dates in Dec :x Then she said I'll see what I can do and ring you back......5 mins later the phone rang...."Can you make it in the 17th Novemeber at 1.45pm"?
NOVEMBER........A WEEK ON WEDNESDAY AND 5 MINS AGO NO APPTS IN DECEMBER SO PRESUMABLY NONE IN NOVEMBER EITHER!!!!!! FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!! I'm not shouting by the way LOL
Just so pleased
Love
Hileena

    Hi DD
I'm a bit thrown about this back treatment as they call it.
I havent a clue what they are going to do so not a clue what to put down on my usual list  All I know is the hip specialist said kyphoscoliosis and the MRI report mentioned at least 4 lumbar discs affected.....using different adjectives LOL Bulging, Herniated etc etc.....so dont really know what to ask.....tell me I'm going for a THR and I know exactly what to ask LOL

    Love

I guess the thing to do is list how it is affecting you, pain levels, movement affected, what makes it worse/better, stuff like that. This trouble meant that you had to postpone your thr, yes? Obviously you need to know if it it is your back that is causing these problems, anyhoo, you have some time to think about it all! It is good news tho, I am glad you rang. DD

    Hi Hileena

At last you have your appointment thank goodness but did seem strange that you now have it in a few days rather than months, doesn't sound as though the appointment people know what they are doing. All that chasing has worked in the end.

Hope the appointment goes well and they put your mind at rest.

    Take care

    Hi Everyone,
    Thanks for the replies......
Well the secretary did say she kept a few private dates that she told no one about and used them when she thought it was necessary......she thought it necessary this time by the look of things.
I still say that chasing them but staying on the right side of them is the best way......I can blow my top so easily but it doesnt really achieve anything.
    Toni, Have answered your pm.
Anyway.....I'll give you a shout at the beginning of the week for pocket duty if you are available

That is so true hileena: make a friend of the receptionist/secretary, you never know when you will need their help! A little charm goes a great deal further than foot-stamping and shouting - if one behaves like a three year old one will be treated as such, ie ignored! DD

That is great news Hileena. I reckon they sit there with all the people needing appointments in a big heap ... they allocate some appointments at random and then keep the rest of the slots clear until one of us lot ring up to find out what is happening .. and hey presto they ring us back with an appointment.

Mid Nov a big improvement on Dec and enough time to prepare for the appointment.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Hileena,
Well done for getting the appointment sorted. It is a good thing to get your questions sorted out. I’m sure you are having a lot of head scratching at the moment. The questions will come to you over the next few days.
At least you do not have to wait too long.
Fingers crossed that you get a better idea where things are going very soon.
