What a good article, lare, and how lovely to see you both! Now I can picture you and Tom when you post. I wish you the very best of luck with all that you have planned, you are doing a sterling job of work in raising awareness and I hope the event in December goes well. Thinking of you both, DD

    PS I love Tom's smile - it's infectious!

Well done to both of you, the more people learn about this condition the better. Good luck with your plans.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Clare and Tom

What a lovely and very thorough article. It was written really well and really explains what Tom and you have been through and why it is important to give people an awareness of arthritis in young people. (Sorry bad wording, brain not working)

It was also nice to put a face to the name.

I hope you get a lot of support on the day.

    Hiya Clare and Tom,

Well done to both of you for writing such an interesting and informative article. Raising the profile of people like Tom and myself (I've had JIA for 37 years) will be so beneficial - as you say, so few people know JIA exists!

I naively thought that by the age of 44, they'd have found a cure(!) and it frustrates me how little they still understand about the disease. Things have moved on a bit but not nearly enough for my liking. I can only hope that by the time Tom is my age, there will finally have been big advances in medicine and treatment.

My experience hasn't been too bad and I have had lengthy periods of remission - I do hope that happens for Tom very soon.

    Once again, well done Clare!

    Hi clare

what a great piece of writing you did for your local paper, I am sure this will bring awareness to JA. I want to wish you luck with your fund raising and with the workshops you are organising, I am sure parents and children will benefit.

What a lovely photo of you and tom.

    Take care both of you
