Hi

Here goes my story again....So been to Wrightington 8 weeks today now. Had chosen to go there after unhelpful consultant at kendal told me that my knee which id had an arthroscopy in march and it has deteriorated a hell of a lot....His only option was to offer to take kneecap out, nothing else, he wouldnt speak or discuss to me why or why not i should have op...He was to put it politely obstructive.
I asked for 2nd opinion and got it at Wrightington....Saw new consultant once and he needed my op notes from kendal as he didnt have them....He said it woud take approx 8 weeks....I rang up a week and a half ago and asked Wrightington how was it getting on...Still no notes from kendal im told so i rang there and got consultants secretary who kept asking me "what did she want me to do" in a verfy abrupt manner, she was as arsey as the consultant was obstructive and i did say that i found her very unhelpful....Now still havent heard and when last spoke to doc she said call kendal again...Point is this woman was so horrid i dont want to deal with her...
Any advice please, i just want my next app and treatment asap....Dont think im asking too much..

    Hi Elaine

You think you should write instead and keep it breif succinct and to the poiint?

I dont think it is good for you to have to deal with her if you can possibly avoid it. It does upset you and you have enough to worry about with possible knee surgery in the pipeline not to mention job applications....

Thing is - they need your notes at Wrighton. So you have to do something ??

    Love

Hi Elaine I really feel for you as I have had first hand experience with people like that when chasing appointments but you have got to put yourself first get on the phone and chase your appointment, some (not many) of these secretarys think they can talk how they like, with any luck you will get a different one, but please phone, let us know how you get on.

    Take care Junex

Hi Elaine - gosh both these people sound so horrid. but you are intitled to see your notes as are other doctors or anyone you give your permission to do so - i would call her bluff - if this was any business other than the nhs you would not put up with this so dont do it now - i would remind her that you are enitled to pass your notes over and give her a time limit to have it done by if not you will report her first to the hospital manager etc- let us all know how you get on

    Hi Toni

I see no reason for secretaries to act in such a manner. I see no reason why she should be off with me as i am only another patient needing treatment.....
I wish there was someone else i could deal with, such as a liaison department who can be civil and proferssional..

    Hi June

I cannot abide attitudes such as this woman's...I do not know her, nor she me, so why be offhand with me...I also dont need the upset....Its so unneccessary i feel....Causes me stress i dont need and shouldnt have...

    Hi Elaine,
I would ask the GP for help. He/she can ring up or delegate someone to ring up your old hospital and request the notes are sent to the new hospital.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Elaine
You may be worth putting the responsibility onto Wrightington.

Are they expecting you to take the notes to them or just to chase them up?

I think Wrightington may have more luck and authority to speed things up from their end......Just a suggestion!

    Hi Tracey
They are/were horrid and what bugs me is that i know if i would have acted in such a manner in my previuos admin jobs i would be on a verbal/final warning....It seems that some people dont care about their jobs, and feel superior which is shameful..We should all try our best to be as polite and helpful towrds others as we can.

    Update

Have just rung up Customer Care department and got onto someone who took my detials but feel she also tried to be a bit crafty as she asked was it just my march op notes that had been requested or all total notes? Of course all i know is that my new consultant wanted notes on march op so said that...She also asked had kendal arranged 2nd opinion and i know that nasty consultant put on his notes that "he had referred me" when he did no such thing, i went to my doc and asked for it as he had told me "it was my prerogative to seek a 2nd opinion" but he was as usless as a sunbed in the artic circle!!

GRR...It shouldnt be this hard, we are saving them a job...

    UPdate

Woman from Customer Care got back to me today at 2pm. Told me they had sent my notes via recorded delivery at end of september. She has been in touch with new consultants secretary as they have been signed for and she has a name for reference too...So its apparently upto Wrightington to get their act together...This week was 8 weeks so I shall be generous and give them till the end of next week...

Happy I didnt have to speak to Rottweiler!!!
