My certolizumab pegol (Cimzia) "objection" is due tomorrow but on Friday I've a pre-op assessment for my first foot op. I'm to allow 3 hours for the appointment. I don't really want to do the objection the day before, nor on the day of the assessment as I usually go a bit dolally tap one way or t'other.

Question : shall I do it today or Saturday? Whaddya fink

I am not sure how much leeway you have time-wise with this stuff, I do my humira every two weeks on a Monday regardless of anything else. Perhaps you should you check with your rheumatology nurse? Good luck with the foot op assessment. DD

Thanks for your replies DD, Cris and Toni :)

My new best friend, Julian the biologics nurse, said it could be a moveable feast up to a point and I feel a bit of a dumbo that I spoke with him yesterday about a collarbone/shoulder Xray and forgot to ask about the Cimzia injection.

I think I'll do it today as I usually take antihistamines at the same time, plus the day after and that should give the site enough time to settle down. I don't want the nurses to think I've got the plague when I strip down for the EEG

I appreciate your good wishes for the pre-op assessment and am keeping my fingers crossed that my BP will behave and my suspicions about yet another uti will be unfounded.

Please, please, please tell me that Julian has a best friend called Sandy. :D (I think you are of the right generation for that reference!)

If he has already told you that there is some flexibility in the time frame then yes, do it today and get it over and done with. That will leave you free to concentrate on tomorrow, will hopefully perk you up a bit for it all anyway, and hyes, let us know what happens. Take care and good luck! DD

Oooh DD you don't know how tempted I've been to ask him whether he's got a best friend Sandy

However, meeting up with him in the local supermarket recently and being introduced to his wife, leads me to believe that he hasn't

I've got the syringe out of Netti in readiness (We've got a fridge/freezer in what was once the outside netti, although I'm not a northener)

You're quite right, I'm happier doing it today than leaving it over.

    Thank you

I suspect he would be too young to get the reference - the young miss out on so much! Good luck with the jab - I hope it goes OK. DD

    Hi Iris,

I went for the objection at lunchtime

Thanks for the good wishes. The op is most glamouros  To quote from the surgeon's letter to my Doc "examination reveals severe hallux valgus and a large bunion. Her right foot is slightly worse than her left so I propose operating on this foot first" So I'm having a "right Scarf Akin plus lateral release" and we all know what that is don't we :?

    Hi Sal,

Very happy to tell you of my experience with Cimzia. I live in Eastbourne, East Sussex and your Health Authority may have different guidelines/methods than mine.

The biologics nurse offered me the choice of Humira.Remicade, Embrel or Cimzia. I chose Cimzia because the manufacturers claim that if it is to be effective for the patient it will do so within 12 weeks. Apparently should this not be the case then NICE won't be charged for the med. I have seen this in writing but for the life of me I can't find it at the moment

The drug supplies are delivered by a company in a refrigerated van and must be refrigerated in a domestic fridge immediately. Here a Cimzia nurse visits your home and goes through everything with you most thoroughly, showing you under her guidance how to administer the injection which I find absolutely painless.

The literature is well presented and easy to understand.

I have had one or two injection site rashes but I now take antihistamines a few days before and after and have no probs.

For me it seems to be working well and I'm most happy. I do hope the same is true for you and wish you good luck.

Hi Cherry, thanks for that. I've got a hurdle or two to get over I think but if everyone goes ok, then I will start it in a few weeks. Glad to hear it works for you. That's all I need to know!

    Hello again Cherry :D

WoW that's some name for an op

please let us know when your op is scheduled so we can be in your pocket for that one. :!:

It's good to read that the Cimzia is working for you....and some really useful info. for anyone else about to start on it. Very interesting about the 12 weeks and the no-charge agreement. :!:

    Hi DD

Thanks to everyone travelling with me and bringing much appreciated goodies, the appointment went fine :D

My BP behaved, no uti, so all being well, provided blood is ok (they only took a sample for kidney function) I should be having the op on the 15th Dec :D

The lady anaesthetist has an up-to-the-minute procedure to prevent post op complications. She knocks one out with a sweet little rubber hammer and then brings one round with a bucket of iced water
