Hi Paul
It sounds as though you need to see the doc and perhaps have your hands xrayed to find out what is happening with your joints?
I know that 'locking' can be a sign of joint damage with PA but don't know whether it's the same with OA....
I have arthritis in my fingers etc too and find that heat helps in easing the stiffness and pain. I regularly use hot wax treatment, which my physio introduced me too, and which is soothing on sore fingers and hands.
Maybe a referral to physio would help too in providing advice on exercises for your fingers & thumb.
let us know how you are..

Have took advise been to docs, he is to send me for x ray and bloods as it may be RA TYPE , has prescribed spme dihydrocodine for pain when very bad or co- dydromol and a Algesal diethylamine cream, so i see what happens from now on.

Ouch! That all sounds painful, I hope that the Xrays and bloods do show what is behind it. I have PA but so far I have mostly escaped the swollen fingers bit of it - I have a feeling tho that it is not that far away now . . . . . I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
