our Royal County is also havinga right Royal drenching too! So I am shredding paper,I think I have almost a forest of the stuff, soon however,I will be able to see part of a rather large patch of carpet I haven't actually seen for several months :) Also today the mobility people turned up to collect equipment,I no longer thankfully need. It's only taken them 11wks :( Have also just watched Russell Brand on Loose Women,I just love him :D I might get this shredding done by midnight,if I'm lucky.Hope your day is just as exciting :) Mirabella

sorry DD,just read your relpy have nosing at the forum, reading everyone's posts.Well I'm in Berkshire! just outside Reading, tiny little village, called Beech Hill, but we always say Spencers Wood as that is the nearest larger village and is more well known,if you get my meaning. We have a river less than 20 meters away from us so I get a bit jittery when rain gets bad,had the river 2' from my front door before now,had to wade through it up to my knees to get in gate, not nice experiance believe me. :( That was a few years ago now,I could walk then, the thought of having to do that on crutches is horrifying,I also lost my car in that flood too.Little blue Micra floating down the lane, bless :( We also got snowed in last year for 4 days had to get dug outby local farmer, the joys of living in the country, but wouldn't change it for anything. :) Mirablla

unfortunatly not, completly washed out just got what the insurance company thought it was worth, for me priceless! lovely little car, went all over country in it,never any trouble at all, broke my heart.Bought a 4x4 jeep thought it might stand a better chance when river comes up the lane. Then hips went could'nt get in or out of it,year on sick pay :( Had to sell to help pay my rent,so have now got an old fiesta, blue with one bright red door,it'll do,it goes well, and I don't lose it in car parks, and everyone knows it's me on the road :) Mirabella

I too adore my Micra, she is lavender blue and called Daisy (hence my name) and I feel happier just sitting in her. When the nights are especially rough ( and I am not too bombed on trammies!) I will set out for a night-drive, at 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, music blasting. Ah, the joys of a rural and coastal county - one can make a racket and not disturb people! Bliss. They are full of character, I think, I would not be without mine. I am sorry to hear about yours but the Fiesta sounds distinctive! DD

Oddly enough, mirabella, not many folk are out then. I do it to keep my hand in, I don't usually drive in the dark, I have no cause, but I don't like to think that I would be too fearful should a sudden need arise. Similarly I drive in heavy rain, thick fog, deep snow. I don't know when I might need to. Plus I love driving!

I remember an episode from The Simpsons, where the old folk are gathered on the threshold of the retirement home and Grampa Simpson quavers 'It's cold and I'm frightened.' I do not want to become Grampa, arthrits is destroying /has destroyed enough of my life already. I won't let it take my confidence. DD

Hi mirabella are you sure you got the right mellman I'd imagine some would consider me a bit of a daft old pain in the bum if you have the right person thanks for your kind words!, anyway your close to me I am over in Oxfordshire in the lickle village of Brightwell Cum Sotwell, I know of spencers wood been over there a few times in the past, reading I also know well as my brother use to play in a band round that way, he also played at reading Rock in fact his band were the opening act after it had moved to the new site, that was in 1991, the two groups he was known for were Predatur and Dog'ouse, they played the top rank and I use to spend many a Saturday night supporting Predatur down in the Target out the back of the Butts shopping centre.
Anyway that was so long ago I'm all old and bald'ish now!, by heck isn't it windy here today, we don't have any leaves left on our cherry trees, that's the bad knews, the good knews is next door has them all!!.
