So confusing!

Hi all,
As some of you know I have been struggling following a TKR in March, the physio said a couple of years hard work will get me up and about, hydrotherapy said the same!
However I have just returned from a physio appointment with a guy I have never seen before, he said 1-2 months and I could be walking with sticks!
How can there be such a time scale difference, he said just push through the pain, I am in chronic 24/7 pain, I told him and he said you need to tell them, what does he think I have been doing?
Why do hospitals give such conflicting advice?

It's not the hospital as such, it's the individual. No matter who is involved in our care they all have their own thoughts and opinions which is why we, the humble patient, end up so confused sometimes. I am sorry to hear that it is not going too smoothly for you zec, these things are presented as wondrous cures and sometimes they don't turn out that way. Any replacement procedure is a huge op, and the recovery time from patient to patient can and does vary. You say that he said that in 1-2 months you could be walking with sticks - does that represent progress or a retrograde step? I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Zec
I find this awful that you are not getting the treatment you deserve. This lastest physio has contradicted himself, hasn't he? He says push though the pain and in the next breath, you have to tell the consultant that you are in chronic pain 24/7. I wish you were able to get a physio who is knowledgeable, listens and understands what you are saying so that you can work as a team.

my last physio was great, but they said I was passed to another and guess what, my next appointment is with yet another different physio!0

Hi Zec,
Oh the more people you see the more ideas they have and the more confusing it gets. I agree with you time scales are no good as we all recover at different speeds.
I really hope something will help you soon and fingers crossed you will get to see a nice one with good ideas next time? Keep in touch though and nice to see you again. Cris x0 -
I agree Zech
totally confusing. What do we do for the best? I think you have to put that very question to the NEXT physio.
I hope someone can help you though to get as good as you can
Love

Zech, I am sorry that you are suffering so much.
I have to say that, in your position, I would only be talking to the surgeon who performed the surgery. Whilst everyone recovers at a different rate, I feel that you should have seen some improvement by now. The amount of pain you are in, and the way that will be making you feel, will tip over into other areas of your life.
Perhaps you could phone the surgeon`s secretary, and ask for - well, to be honest, I would demand - another consultation.......Ange.0
