Hi Everyone

I wanted to tell you all about one of our neighbours and a hellish situation he has found himself in this week.
He got a call this week, Mon or Tues to say that his sister, who lived in Blackburn (where my neighbour grew up also - he is now 73), had been killed in a hit and run incident. She was 70 years old, nobody saw the accident.
Anyway we sent a sympathy card to him and he has been on the phone this morning - the rest shocked me. The driver who was ininusred, no tax, had been done for dealing drugs and was only just out of HMP....He had obtained the car, a Merc via hire, dont know how....After he had run down this poor woman, killing her outright he carried on driving and clipped a van, the owner of which got part of the vehicle reg and this traced the car and its detials...He rung a mate to even come and tow the car away and hide it but thank god the mate had a conscience and rung the police...He has denied being the driver, says fingerprints there cos he was in it but not driving....He is now on remand, apparently they could ask for a post mortem, which means her family cannot plan a funeral...Its all in limbo and a sorry state of affairs for her husband and her siblings.....
She was a well know figure in Blackburn as she did lots for her RC church activities....My neighbour says Blackburn has changed so much since he grew up there, its awful......
I really feel for him and wanted to share this story....

    Hi Elaine

I feel so sorry for your neighbour. What a dreadful thing to happen. It makes me nervous to drive these days when you think of all the people like this evil man on the roads.

I am so sorry to hear this but it seems to be becoming more and more common place. My heart goes out to their family at this time and hope that everything is sorted quickly for them.

    Hi Joan

Well just read Lancashire new website and the man who towed car away has been charged now and guess what he was dfriving too whilst disqualified...They were asian men, i know that, obviuously with no regard for any other person but themselves...It is being disputed also that the incident didnt kill her and maybe a heart attack did....
    Pathetic ....

    Hi Elaine
It was on our north west news, if it the same one, her poor husband was just locking the car has she crossed the road to there house.
I just wonder whether this person will get life, I doubt it very much.

    Oh elaine

    how dreaful for the family.

Something similar happend to a friends Dad a few years ago. He 'hung on' even though he was in his 80's only to die within days. That driver got himself sectioned and justice was never done :(

He was a very fit man and like that lady a nice person with lots to live for.

Please dont worry too much about the PM - my Mum had to have one and we still had the funeral within 8 days - they do try not to keep families in limbo.

I hope he gets banged to rights.

    Love

    Toni xx

    Hi Toni

How awful about your friends dad, i bet the person guilty got told to act mental so they would be sectioned, why cant people see a piece of scum when its before their eyes??
I hope too he gets banged to rights but solicitors these days are so crafty, asking for PM when family is in distress....
    Whats the world coming to?
Its like those idiots who wanted to burn the poppies and boo uk troops too...Go on, take a bomb onto a nice island and blow to your hearts content, just take all the othr bad apples with you!!!

    We're too soft here...

I hope they throw the bloody book at him, and it bloody hits him too!
There are far too many people in this country these days that just do not care about the suffering or pain they cause others.. I dearly love this country but hate what it's becoming, very sad..
This is a horrible thing to happen to an innocent lady..

A dear friend of mine was killed here in Leeds not long ago, he was out having a few beers watching the England match, he was a tad worse for wear and went out of the pub for a cig, some idiot ran up and punched him in the side of the head, he fell and hit his head on the pavement.. He fractured his skull and was in a coma for 11 days before they switched the machine off.. He was in his early forties. They arrested the man but even after a PM had been performed his solicitors wanted another one doing, the heartless bas7ards (sorry for the language but it starts to upset me) dragged it on for a while. It was a couple of weeks before the family could have the funeral.. And guess which other BAR-STEWERD raised his ugly head the night before.. Arthur. I was in so much pain I could not move out of my bed, and now I will forever feel guilty about not going.. I know you're going to say it's not my fault but I can't help the way I feel.
I am so sorry for going on, please accept my apolagy Elaine, I did not mean to take anything away form your original post.. I started getting upset and just kept writing.

Well what can you say to a terrible situation like this, my heart goes out to them and I hope they will be able in time to carry on as best they can with their lives but it wont be easy or ever the same again, if I were more tolerant a person then I would be expected to spout the old "forgiveness" mantra but I am not that type of person, the only good thing is his mate had a spark of humanity in him so called the police.
what will probably happen is this scum will get treated with great care and dignity buy the authorities who seem to be more interested in criminals rights than anyone else, he will probably get a few years in nick but he will be given many more chances than he should be, once out social workers will buzz round him like attentive little bees and make a case for him and look after him to make sure he is well treated, all he needs to do is repeat a few key phrases and he will have them eating out of his hand, then it's out to probably carry on destroying others lives without a care, what should happen is he should be made to face up to his actions and the message should be enforced as strongly and as negatively as it's possible to do so without leaving any physical sign of injury, I've totally had it with the liberal approach to crime, if there is no punishment then the lessons doesn't get learn't or worse it's a green light to carry on as they are, I've seen it time and time again and the liberal approach is a joke.
It's got so bad that this thing although not that common is slowly becoming the norm, the liberals say that we are in no more danger than when we were in the 60's and 70's, total and utter rubbish, I can't remember this kind of thing ever happening, from this case to the case of Sarah Pane I believe the streets are far more dangerous than they use to be, when did you hear of stabbings or machine guns being used to settle scores in the big cities, I can't think of one case back then, today it's the norm.
I for one would bring back the death penalty and make prison a place to fear rather than the holiday camp social workers and probation officers have made it. Modern Britain is in a sad state of decay, I wonder if all the lives given in the second world war was worth it, the older I get the more I feel in myself that it wasn't. I'm sorry to be so negative but this type of case is so terrible it's hard to come to terms with.

Well said mellman.. Even when I was growing up in the 70's it was nothing like this, we respected our elders and the law.. This country is becoming a sad shell of what it once was.

    Hi Tony

Well no need to apologise...It has now become the normal thing that if you commit a crime you can expect leniency.....I mean come on, if a guy breaks into your home and you club him one, you get done for assault?
Its always the uninsured, disqualified, repeat offenders who know the law system and how to milk every last drop from a dry udder from the justice system......Why not just own up, say youre sorry and let the family grieve and bury their loved ones.....I dont get what sort of people they are and im glad I dont cos that would make me like them.....
Im sorry to have heard about your situation and dont worry about your arthritis, im sure they would have understood youre in too much pain to attend...

    Hi Mellman

You know youre spot on, from the woman in Haringey Council who still insists she did nothing wrong in the case of Baby P, to the killing of people trying to defend their homes (young father got killed, cant remember name but his wife has now been appointed a position in parliament)......To the sad story which came up again of Sophie Lancaster, a goth who looked different and was killed for it....What a brave woman her mum is....
This peice of scum will know every string to pull in the legal system and yank it for all its worth.....Id love to bring back hanging me, if someone has taken a life with no remorse, take theirs.....
Britain a safer place, I dont know, even kids now and im only 42 dont show much respect and im not generalising at alll...I got nieces and nephews some of who have kids who are horrors....
