The recovery has been going so well that Smart Alec here decided to do a bit of gardening yesterday.Nothing too much just picking up the dog's droppings and spraying the weeds in the gravel.Bad Move, really feeling it today.Just hoping that it's just a blip.I can't really believe that I have done too much damage.Fingers crossed everyone

    Hi Tone,

Well isn’t that always the way. We start to feel good and we cannot resist getting on with things.

Frustrating for you I know. Have an easy day tomorrow and hopefully things will settle down for you.

    Take care of yourself.

    Hi Tonysp,

sounds like typical "progress" to me!! You were feeling great (no bone pain to limit you) and you over did it.

Rest up now - lots of elevation, use the crutches and give those poor soft tissues and muscles time to get over their exertion.

    Speedy
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Oooooh! I am trying SO HARD to be sympathetic - and failing. :) It is still early days, tonesp, please wrap your head around that concept! Yes, you have done extraordinarily well in your recovery but - and it's a BIG BUT - you still have some way to go. You heard  what they were doing all those weeks ago - it is a huge operation, and it does take a while for everything to settle back down. I honestly hope that you have not upset everything too much - from here-on-in resist those tempting thoughts about leading a 'normal' life (whatever that is!) at least until after Christmas. As speedy says, rest, elevation and when moving pretend you are me - use those scaffold poles. They are not an admission of defeat, they are sensible. DD

    Hi Tone,

Just agreeing with the others.... when you don't have pain you over do it and make a whole bucket of pain for your self.....

My thing is if you enjoyed it sometimes payback is ok... but payback will always come along till your totally mended again.

Hope you soon feel less oched. Cris x

    Morning tonesp

Hope you have recovered from your gardening blip.

It is a darn shame that when we feel good and want to do something that we normally can't we have to pay the price.

    Take care

Hi everybody Thanks for all the kind wishes.I really am resting. What is bothering me is that the pain seems to be centred round my scar Sometimes it feels as though it is deep inside.I really am hoping that I have just overdone it and rest will ease it.I am a bit concerned that it might be an infection or rejection. However, I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday so I should get an answer then.I spent most of today in bed so hopefully that will help.I think Benidorm is a non-starter for a while :(:(:(:(

Sounds like a wise decision to rest as much as you can Tone. but sorry you've had to postpone Benidorm... can you reschedule and go later. :?: I do hope so as you were so looking forward to your holiday.

Fingers crossed (again  ) that you haven't injured or 'upset' the healing process and that your surgeon will be able to offer you reassurance. :D

Good luck for your appointment on Thursday . :!:

These scars do run deep, and no wonder when you think about what has been done. I hope this has been a salutary lesson about not running before walking etc etc etc! :) Keep resting, I don't see why Benidorm should be off the agenda - was it very soon? This isn't a major setback surely, you must still be better than before the op. You just went a little too far tonesp, that's all, I am sure of it! Be kind to your new joint, and yourself. Stay in bed a little longer, say until Friday. Keep in touch if you can. DD

    hI Tone

I reckon you'd be suprsied how much theses ops can upset our bodies.... :( at least you have behaved today eh?

Make sure you do your exercises though - have you still got ted stockings on?

Roll on Thursday so you can get some reassurance.

    Love

    Hi tonesp

Good luck with the appointment tomorrow

    Keep resting today

Hope all is well and the discomfort is nothing to worry about, that it was simply cause you over did it.

:( Oh no, I certainly hope not. I think you overdid things, that's all - you say it's feeling better today so keep resting, tonesp, that is all you can do to help. I will be thinking of you on Thursday - please let us know what the surgeon has to say. DD

Oh Tone  I do hope the doc is wrong and it's been the 'overdoing it' in the garden that's caused the pain. :!:

I'll be thinking about you tomorrow when you see the consultant....and have fingers and toes all crossed.
