Hi!

What a difference seeing a consultant makes! Last week I saw the registrar who told me there was nothing wrong with me and wouldn't treat me. Today I saw the consultant and she thinks I have ME and Reactive Arthritis (not PR because I don't have swelling) and after looking at my test results she has put me on vitamin D tablets and hydroxychloroquine.

I'm on the hydroxy for a trial of 4 months to see if it helps then I'm to go back and see her again. She wants me to go back earlier if I have a big flare and to see my GP for blood tests if I get strep throat again.

I'm so relieved it went well! Fingers crossed the drugs will help.

Clair

I am glad that someone has listened and that you have been started on something. One of the problems we all face is that we are at the mercy of people's opinions: what one doc think another disregards before telling you what they think. No wonder we get muddled, after all we are only the affected ones who have to put up, and cope, with everything. Good on you for fighting to see people, good on you on at last being given something - I sincerely hope it helps. I wish you well. DD

Clair, I'm so pleased that you got a result. Once you find a good rheumy, hang on to them with dear life. I''m on first name terms with mine!

I know that 4 months might sound like a long time, well it is, but some drugs really do take that long to reach full potential. I haven't been on hydroxy so I can't advise but from what I've seen of most arthur drugs they do take a little while to really get going.

    Hi Clair

Just wanted to say that I am glad that you have seen the consultant and she has diagnosed and also started you on treatment.

Gosh girl, you have really been through it but at least know you are going to start the right treatment. I hope it works really fast and well for you. It will take a few weeks to get into your system. Hope your op goes well to.

    Take care

Make sure you do get in contact with her if you flare as obviously she wants to monitor you closely. xx
