Hi everybody from a very relieved but very sore Tony.Good News!!
The hip replacement has been 100% successful.Even better I am not rejecting it and I do not have an allergy to the hip. What I do have is an allergy to the internal stitches which are supposed to dissolve away. Not with me they didn't They turned into God knows how many million little abcesses.(A bit of an exaggeration but that is what it felt like)He had to lance and squeeze every one of them The most uncomfortable 15 minutes I have ever spent.I have a prescription for antibiotics I have to go to the Centro de Salud to have my dressings changed,a blood test and to go back to the hospital next week to see the nurse.
A small price after spending time worrying that I had rejected the replacement
Thanks for all the concern Will keep you posted

That must have been painful, thank goodness you weren't rejecting the hip, I didnt even know you could reject them  I hope the AB work then you can carry on with your recovery.
Good Luck

Ooh Tony that sounds horrid. However must be a relief to know that you are not rejecting the new hip joint. Hope the antibiotics kick in fast and the pain soon eases.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Tone,
I’m so pleased that it was not what you thought. Still a nasty reaction though, you must take it easy. With luck the AB’s will take a grip of it soon. I hope you start to feel better soon.
Take care,

I am so glad that the problem is a fairly straightforward one: it's solved, yes? Get better please, and soon. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
