That is not an easy question to answer - what do you want to know? I had it years ago, it's given by infusion which is a dream, one sits there in comfort sipping tea and eating bikkies, reading or whatever: I suffered no side effects and neither did it work for that long. I cannot remember now if I had three or four infusions before I produced antibodies - either way it wasn't long before I was taken off it and so began my disappointing journey with anti TNFs. I hope it works much, much better for you. DD

Infliximab is an anti TNF. Other popular ones are enbrel and humira (adalimumab). DD

Yup, same dog, different bit of string, as my dad used to say! I hope it works for you. DD

    HI Chrissy

I am due to start having Infliximab by infusion - I have my first on December 13th and the second on Dec 29th.

This will be my first foray into Anti-TNF treatment, following having to stop taking Leflunomide (which was working  ) because I had an allergic reaction to it. :x :x

I, like you , have been worried about starting it, but I am reassured that we are closely monitored during and immediately after the infusion in case of any problems.

In my area I have been told I go to the Medical Day unit, where I will be given the infusion over roughly 2 hours, then wait another hour being monitored, and then I go home. It sounds fairly relaxed, and to be honest although I am not keen on hospitals I do feel reassured that I will be closely monitored if there are any problems.

Do you know how long you will have to wait before your treatment begins? I had rather a long wait because of the drug reaction over the summer

Good luck! & maybe we can compare notes on how it works (or doesn't) for us both.

it's tough having to wait and see though isn't it!
