Blue Badge parking charges

I've just read that Oldham Council are going to start charging Blue Badge holders for parking.
I know other councils, like Bury and Rochdale don't charge, but I bet that if Oldham get away with it, they will follow suit. What is the situation like in your town , or aorund the country, I'm not going to Oldham any time soon by the way. Alanthemanc

Still free here in Leeds, as you say though, if they bloody get away with it that's it, rest will follow rubbing their greedy paws!!

Dead right, once one Council has a so called brainwave idea, the rest will follow as sure as anything.
You should get paid yourself for parking in Oldham, a real rat- hole of a place, only slightly better than Rochdale.
2 POUNDS AN HOUR TO PARK IN OLDHAM, someones havin a laugh. Alanthemanc0 -
I see no reason why councils shouldn't charge for parking in their car parks - after all we are parking just as anyone else is, we just need more room. Suffolk doesn't charge, but Norfolk does. NCP always charges for their car parks. Parking on single yellow, or double yellow (if applicable, not where there are loading lines or crossings etc) avoids any fee. Simples. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I wonder if we could organise a go slow around Oldham, but it wouldn't work because everything in Oldham moves slow0

I dont mind paying as long as they give us an hour free, some places charge like tis.0 -
Any of the pay and display in town centre are free for blue badge holders, not the private car parks though, you'd have to check what they're rules are, they decide basically.. There's always the disabled bays too, dortmund square has some, then there are a few on albion street, on eastgate opposite Pri-marni... I have always parked in the pay and displays no problem though, should be able to park there 24hrs I think..
