We're in Eastbourne, East Sussex which is supposed to be the sunniest place in Great Britain according to the "official statistics
Not today it ain't. At a conservative estimate I would assess that we've had a foot of snow accumulate over the last 6 days:?
We'd managed to get stocked up with essentials a few days ago but as Stu only came out of hospital last Friday I thought he could do with a treat
When the young neighbour across the road rang the bell at 8.50 asking if she could get any shopping for us as she was going to walk to Waitrose I said "bottle of whisky for Stu please?"
She was only too happy to oblige and it's only taken the dear girl 40 minutes to get the whisky, four pints of milk for I & J, a dozen eggs for V & J and tins of soup for N. plus whatever she, her partner and her partner's Mum needed.
We're so appreciative and I'm sure all our neighbours of similiar age are too

The good people in the world far outnumber the bad, of that I am certain - I hope he enjoys the whisky! It's snowing steadily here, it's a balmy -2, and for once I've upped the heating. All the blinds are down, that keeps in a surprising amount of heat, and the curtains are closed in the rooms where I am not. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

The good people certainly outnumber the bad don't they DD, otherwise none of us would be here
I've made him a whisky, hot water and honey and I think he'll shortly be chatting to the fairies at the bottom of the garden! Taken the precaution of locking the back door just in case he wants to help them dust down their mushroom seats!
Every curtain we have I've interlined with bump in the making and they're all tightly drawn. Couldn't care a monkey's bottom what the gas bill will be. If I liked whisky I'd have a tot of it too
Keep warm and safe everyone

Hi Cherrybim,
I was born in Eastbourne and love going back there to see all my family who still live there.I have heard the snow is very deep there.
How nice of your neighbours to think about you. I hope your husband enjoys his whiskey.
Yesterday when i braved the shops I had nothing but kindness. People holding open doors, asking if I was managing okay with my big bags of shopping, getting out of my way carefully, smiles etc.I have to take stuff home to try on as I cannot manage in the changing rooms getting shoes, socks and trousers off and back on again as I would be there a week. The staff packed my bags carefully and tightly so as not to cause too much bulk.A little bit of kindness goes a long way.
Best wishes

it the english spirit we always show our best in the worse circumstances.
the number of people who have asked mum and dad if they need anything it makes you so glad to know so many great peopleval0 -
Hi Elizabeth
I'm not Eastbourne born and bred, bit further West, Shoreham-by-Sea/Southwick but Stu had a law practice in Eastbourne for 30 years when we lived up on the Wealden ridge. It was 17 miles away by road and in bad weather conditions we could check with each other how "the mop was flopping"
So pleased that people helped you yesterday. I certainly believe that the ol' English spirit is still with us as Valval has said.
It naturally goes both ways doesn't it I'm thinking of some little thing I can do to repay my neighbour, after all I'm a superb cook
I shall now ration the whisky 'cos it's far too cold for him to check out the fairies at the bottom of the garden 8)
Love

Glad you have such lovely neighbours.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0
