I am wondering whether to venture out and buy a very warm coat. I have a fleece but today when out buying some wellies so i dont break my neck i was looking at coats but couldnt decide. I am in two minds to go back but 1. its dark and cold and 2. I dont want to spend the money!
Anyone recommend some very warm coats?...been looking at insulted type ones that are suitable for everest conditions.

Oh, dear, I am so sorry, but the typo made me laugh out loud. I'm going right out there to insult my coat now for not keeping me warm enough!
PS - Hubby swears by his fleece-lined waterproof jacket.0 -
Asda have some very nice ones - got a duffle coat with a hood, very heavy and warm for £15. It was half price for some reason.

PS - I won't be insulting my coat0 -
Hi Nina, long time no see.....
I was thinking about buying a coat too as present one won't do up. There are many styles around at the moment so it is difficult to decide. If it is for everyday wear then it is best to get an insulated one definately- this weather is going to hang around.
Good luck

Yes I have don't get anything other than a Syberian goose down puffer type coat, I got mine (a Berghaus) from go outdoors a few years ago and it knocks the sox of any synthetic ones trust me, I've been out flying on White Horse hill in -17 and it was totally snug and I'm a whimp when it comes to the weather, I guess that's why Geese can paddle around on rivers in this weather and not freeze to death, you have to hand it to mother nature she's got the best kit.0

um, just seen faux pas in the typing, hee hee......brain frozen to death.
well i did go out and i did buy a coat and surprise surprise its sounds bit like mells....siberian goose, down side, 1. expensive and 2. dont exactly look slim in it!!!
Not taking label off it just yet incase i dont keep it - i do like it though.
Can anyone tell me why my ancient threads keep coming alive, like happy christmas to all peeps thread and christmas emoctions threads - they are 2 years old!!!!!!!!0 -
Warmth is more important than glamour/looking svelte. A well- padded woman with a nicely flushed face looks far better than a thin one who has turned blue with cold! I hope you grow to like your coat. DD (Who can no longer wear her goosedown one as the flaming sleeves are too thick for the flaming crutch arms but who cannot bring herself to give it away just in case she does ditch the crutches one day, which of course she will do as she will have to resort to a chair at some point and can then wear it again - happy thought! )Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I've been wearing my ski jacket all week (hahahaha I don't ski in case you're wondering....I just go on the family ski holidays and generally look after the kids, previously my nephew this time my son) which is in no way elegant but toasty warm and i've been amazingly envious of my son's salopettes as he really seemed to stay toasty warm and dry in them
For many years I avoided spending a fortune by freezing my butt off then I realised I was being ridiculous and bought a decent coat.
I have a ski jacket and a smart black one thats a couple of years old now. I bought the best I could afford in neutral colours and they have lasted well (although I had to get a new button for the black one as I popped the original one off when I was pregnant)
Hope you find something
