Hi
I have just received copies of my blood tests and x rays from my GP , so that i can take them to appointment with rhuematologist ( no date yet) and I'm a bit confused!!
When i spoke to my GP she said that my RF was negative but on the results it says weakly positive at 23.
Ana is positive at 1:160, everything else is fine.
My x ray report says this:
There is a narrowing of the left 3rd and 4th MCP joints, the left 2nd,4th and 5th DIP joints and slight narrowing of the PIP joints. No evidence of erosive changes.
The right PIP and DIP appear slightly reduced. At the base of the proximal small phalanx of the right ring finger there is a small area of ersoion.
I know I should wait until I see the rheumy to discuss all of this but I am getting myself in a tiz now.
I am really worried that actually he/she might be dismissive and think that i'm amking a fuss over not very much, but i am in so much pain that i couldn't cope with them saying that.
Alternatively I'm worried that things are worse than I think they are!!!....can't win really!!
Any advice would be really welcome

I've no idea what it all means as I am not a doc. Don't tizz yourself too much - wait until you have seen the rheumatologist, they should be able to shed some light on these matters for you. Take a list of symptoms, what hurts and when, what aggravates the pain, what (if anything) eases it, keep a record of your tiredness levels and sleep patterns (does pain wake you, if so how often) and anything else you can think of to give them as full a picture of you as possible. Blood tests and Xrays are only part of your story: you are living with this and they should be made aware of the effects it is all having on you. I wish you well, keep in touch and do let us know how you get on. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
