You lovely, lovely people, thank you so much. I am due to see my rheumatologist at 9.45, so that will be nearer 10.30 then! I plan to tackle her about the meds I am on and whether some changes could/should be made - I know there is very little she can do but I do think things could be better. Surely I cannot be 'treatment resistant' (her phrase) to everything! I guess the current difficulties are mostly my fault for trying to reduce the pred - I plan to move to 6mgs as from Monday and I bet she tells me to up it again - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Mr DD ain't too happy about it all but what is one to do? Yes, I am a drug-swallowing/injecting fat woman because I have an illness that cannot be cured, simples! Anyhoo, Monday will come and go and I honestly think not much will be achieved. We'll see - I will report back as soon as I get in.

Thank you - your thoughts, kindness and smelly foods are much appreciated. DD

Perhaps I'm an old radical DD but I'd say to 'em "Let's wipe out all the old meds and start with something completely different" For me cortisone could be shoved down my throat and injected into every joint and still the result would be zilch :)) I recall you saying that arnica was of no benefit to you, but fingers crossed after yesterday's episode at the dentist things seem to be on the up!

I wanted to go back on the "gold" but the Rheumy nurse said it wasn't a good move for someone who'd been "off it" for 25 years. He did explain the reason why but I've naturally forgotten all the ins and outs of it!

I'll be on pocket duty tomorrow, don't ee fear and then come Wednesday everyone can take the mickey out me bunion :))

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Thank you all so much, it is lovely to know that you will all be there with me in spirit - or should that be spirits? tonesp, please bring a bottle of that Spanish brandy, the one with the yellow label and a bull on it - I love it, absolutely love it. We were given a bottle last christmas and by the time I fancied a small measure of said nectar (which was September, I think) it had somehow vanished. Husbands - who'd 'ave 'em? DD

hope that you get your point across as well as you usually do, and that they listen this time and have some good suggestions for new meds for you to beat Arthur with

Morning all, DD reporting in. I don't know if I'm ready for the hospital or a big night out: legs shaved, feet moisturised, chin plucked and moustache groomed into invisibility, face has a little added slap to make me look at least vaguely human, well, it has to be said and I might as well say it - DD is a total babe this morning. I have weed into my little pot, have my sheets of repeat prescription slips ready so she can see what wacky new meds my GP has added to her sorry little bunch of dross, and so we proceed. I will report back in due course - I expect nothing but miracles from this morning (as per usual) and so will return, full of gloom and doom (as per usual). What a farce it all is, eh? Never mind. (DD wanders off to the strains of 'Things . . . .can only get better . . . . .can only get better . . . '
