Good morning all, As some of you know I have PA, I started Humiru on the 3rd, the only reaction i had to that was a severe headache within a hour and spent the next 24hrs in bed as it eased of, on sunday i got up up after a couple of hours i was in a lot of pain in my chest going through into my back and into shoulders, I was rushed to hospital by ambulance where i was tested for heart atack, after many test and a c t scan i was given the all clear im pleased to say, the doctor who examined me yesterday and discharged me thinks it is to with my arhritis, he wants me to have a bone scan as my spine is very tender in a few places, and has put me on calcium tablets, he is also going to contact my reumy, has anyone else had problems around the chest area, it was all so scary and im still a little sore now. x

    Morning Chinup

I was so sorry to read your post - it must have been very frightening for you. I am very glad they checked you over thoroughly though and that it wasn't a heart attack.

I (fortunately) have not experienced the problem you have had but hopefully your rheumatologist can shed some further light on the subject, given that the hospital doc thinks that the pain is related to the PA.

I really hope you start to feel better soon Chinup.

    Thinking of you.

    Love Tilly xxx

I am glad to hear that you are out and on the mend, chinup, that must have been very scary. People have mentioned painful ribs etc, a search may well throw up those posts. I haven't, so can't help on that front. I wish you well and I hope your next dose of humira starts to help the PA. I am on it too, it has reduced my inflammatory markers to next-to-nothing and I am fortunate in that I can tolerate it, ie no side effects. DD

This can be common during a flare up, I was worried when it first happened to me when it started in my rib cage and i felt out of breath then the pain went round my back and radiated through to my shoulder blades.

I later found out that arthritis can do this and can effect the rib area in a way that you cant expand your rib cage fully when taking in air. I hope you are feeling better and either way its best to be checked out to double check everything is ok.

Hello, I can't help with the chest pain, but I want to say how very glad I am that you where given the 'all clear' with heart problems. You must have been so frightened, I know I would be, chest pains are one of the things we all dread, well I do. I hope that the rheummy can find out the cause of all this and give you something to help you. I hope you soon are feeling a lot better than you do now. Lots of love Suexxxx ((((()))))xxx Take care of yourself.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
