Three times in the last few months we've been overcharged by different shops.

The first time was when we bought some secateurs and the price marked on them was £10 and we were charged £15. The second time hubby bought some flooring and we were overcharged by £27, :evil luckily he had a good idea before he went shopping of how much it would be so he asked them to rescan it all and the mistake was found and thirdly we were overcharged £1.70 on some gloves today.

The error always occurs in the shops favour (funnily enough  ) and it's when the scanner/till rings in a higher price than what's marked on the product.

So a word of warning; always have a vague idea of the amount you should be spending and if you have time check your receipts against the products before you leave the shop.

Has this happened to anyone else or is it just us??? x:|

I had a similar experience but slightly different.
This year when we went to holiday to Wales in the summer with the kids. It was the first day we got there and my Fella wasn't being paid until the next day so we had the bare minimum of money to pay for dinner that night. When we got to the holiday camp we realised the price of their food was very expensive so we decided to go into the town for fish and chips at the seafront. When we got there the shop staff were very attentive and hospitalable. When she came to take the order, we decided that just the kids were going to eat and the adults would have a hot drink each. She 2 childrens chicken nuggets and chips, 2 slush puppys, a cup of tea and 2 hot chocolates. The waitress came over a few times to ask if all was well. She must have known that we were holiday makers as we stood out like a sore thumb with our cockney accents!
When my partner went to pay, she informed us that our Bill was £25, As we only had £20 on us, alarm bells started ringing, so my OH decided to ask to see the receipt and he was met with huffs and puffs. I then being the mouth of the family, stepped forward and reminded them it was the custumers right to see the reciept and the customer is ALWAYS right. On reviewing the reciept we had been charged for 5 adult cod and chips plus the drinks. We recieved no apology so began to get annoyed, we were the only ones in the shop so they must have known that no Cod was cooked. On bringing this to their attention they started to get very irrate and kicked me and my young family out of the shop. My son (3yrs old) clining to my leg crying coz the scary man had shouted at mummy.
When i got back to the holiday camp i went to the customer services department to explain the problem and they handed me the number of the local trading standards as they said we wasn't the first family to have the problem with this shop.
It seems they don't expect holiday makers to check their receipts and if we hadn't had such little money, i don't think we would have.
So slightly different story but the same kind of moral of the story. Check and double check reciepts!

    Hi Linda
Like you say this happening all to often, we have had a few arguments over this lately, and more often then not it is the big stores, so always check your receipt is what I say
Dumdee I am appalled you were treated like that, they know exactly what they are doing, there is a chain of pubs you have to watch , wish I could say there name, twice we have had things added to the bill, so like you we have reported them, I don't want it to happen to others.

    Hi Del,
It's happened in different shops - and these are the times we've spotted it happening - how many times does it go unnoticed - that's my worry. x:roll:

    Hi Tony,
    Nice surprise for you

    Hi DDDD
I'm appalled that you complained and were still treated terribly - they hadn't even got the decency to apologise. :x

    Hi Barbara.
I knew it wouldn't just be me - it always when you're buying lots of things from big stores too. :evil

    Hi Linda,

I have had the opposite. 3 times Christmas shopping this year I have not been charged at all for 3 items.I only discovered this when i got home and went to write out my which child has which gift xmas list by checking the receipts (so i don't overspend on one child-I like to be fair). I watch carefully at the till so not to be overcharged but obviously I'm not doing a good enough job.

Easy to avoid that - don't buy Harrods' own basic coleslaw! DD
