Good evening everyone,

Had all my blood results back and i have enough swollen/tender joints for the Ustekinumab trial i mentioned before. Subject to an ECG, glucose and cholesterol checks tomorrow i am having my first injection.
I dont know if people are aware of this drug, its currently used in psoriasis treatment and at the moment is being studied as a possible PA treatment.
I'm excited/scared/nervous all at the same time! on one hand this drug has been reported to work miracles but on the other for the first five months of the trial there is a placebo possibility. I just hope that they find it to be as effective as is being reported.
Here's hoping my results are all ok and i can have the first treatment tomorrow.

will let you all know how i get on......

    Hello again,

Spent a good five hours at the hospital today and got through all the tests, so had my first injections of the trial drug.

Its a two year trial so long road ahead! I had to fill out several questionnaires about how i feel and how my condition affects my day to day living. I also consented to having a DNA analysis so they could try and find a link in my chromosomes to the PA.

I had one injection of the drug in each arm and i guess now its just a case of waiting......going back for another two injections in mid january so fingers crossed guys. I really want this to work, and not just for me, for all of us! Got to leave it 24 hours before i inject my meth so will probably start doing that on a friday now.

    Fingers, toes and everything crossed,

    HI jenny

glad things went well for you.

fingers crossed that the meds are the ones that work for you, and that they will help loads more because you are doing the trial.

    hugs (((())))

Hi Jenny, glad you could go ahead with it, really hoping that it does some good... Without folks like you willing to try these things where would we be...
I was supposed to go on a canabis trial thing a few years ago :o:)) but it meant that first I would have had to stop all pain meds for a few weeks so I had a clear system... At that point I was on a lot of dihydrocodiene, and needed it so couldn't do it... Wonder if I would have had the munchies on it? Lol

Well done, jennylynn, I sincerely hope it works for you. I too have PA and, as my consultant put it, am 'treatment resistant' to all her stuff so I hope you do experience some sparkling success with this new one. I wish you well. Two years is a good stretch of time, and no doubt all the record-keeping may be a litle wearisome, but it's people like you that make all the difference for people like us. DD
