I am 20, and recently discovered that i was pregnant. I am over the moon! The only thing that is really bothering me, is the fact that i am receiving Gold Injections. I am still only recieving my 'once every two week' injection, but i don't know how this is going to affect my unborn baby. My consultant is going to get back to me by Monday, but i can't bare a weekend of not knowing if my baby is going to have birth defects. Has anyone got any advice? It would be much apprieiated. Thank you! Jaz.

Thank you! I am just at a loss at what to do. I am expecting a call sometime now from my consultant to see if there will be any major problems! I have got everything crossed.

Congrats - If your anything like me I'm guessing its all a bit scary and good, more of the latter than the former I hope
Re the gold - I believe its not advised - http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis_information/arthritis_drugs__medication/gold.aspx
but most drugs aren't as they for obvious reasons don't tend to test on pregnant women
I have no idea of the actual risks associated with it tho so hopefully your dr can give you more in depth info
I was on MTX when we decided to have my son and obviously i had to come off it and exist with steroids (which was just about bearable) and is generally considered safe although you need monitoring and may end up with more scans than a 'normal' pregnant woman , as is paraceatamol although NSAIDs aren't (at a particular stage beginning or end of pregnancy I can't remember which)
I don't know how bad your arthritis is but it may also be worth asking your GP if they can refer you for care under a specialist obstetrician just to keep an eye on your pregnancy.....your not under any increased risk you just might find the strain on your body more troublesome than most and its worth having somebody who can keep an eye on this....mine was invaluable as i had problems with my hips
I can only tell you what it was like for me but If you have any questions give me a buzz but keep asking doctors until you are happy with the answers - Pregnancy with arthritis is going to be a team effort with your rheumy, GP and obstetrician working together to help you with drugs, pregnancy and all that comes with it
    good luck and best wishes
