52 years old with calve leg perthes

I was diagnosed as a 9 year old boy with calve leg perthes in my right hip.
My hip was the very damaged, and I spent the next 2-3 years using crutches.
I lived a normal life doing what other kids did, except putting any load on my right leg.
I am now 52 years old and I need to do somthing.
I am searching the net for other people who has the same problems as I have, but there is little information.
I wonder what other people have done and what kind of solution they have decided to use and what experience they have made.
Has anyone had the same problem and are you willing to share their experience?
My surgeon wants to put in a new hip, but I have heard about resurfacing and wonder what other people has done?

Good morning, welcome to the forum, I'm afraid I can't help you on this particular matter but if you post on the 'Living with' section you may get more advice, more people look in on that one than this on to be honest
That is the section where you can get answers to questions/advice etc...
I have not heard of what you have, can I assume it's a type of arthritis?
The chit chat section is where you can pop in and have a good chinwag and some fun, there is Val's cafe for calorie free cakes etc.. We're a daft but friendly bunch..
Be well, hope to see you postingMe-Tony

Good morning, it's nice to meet you and I am sorry to hear of all your troubles. I am afraid I haven't heard of your problem before but one thing I would suggest is that you post on the LWA (living with arthritis) forum - more people tend to look in there, you will certainly find those who have had hip replacements (usually for OA) and they will hopefully be able to give you the help, advice and information that you seek. I don't know if the helpline here would be able to proffer any assistance, but it would do no harm to ring them! I wish you well. DD
PS I see you have! I hope you do receive some replies.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hello!
I can't add anything to Tony and DD's replies, but just wanted to say "welcome to the forum".
Hope you will get some answers on LWA.
