Delboy, I really like Christmas. However when I lived alone I found it more difficult.
The problem is that Christmas seems so often to be an occasion for over consumption and for sentimentality. However, it can be something more: an occasion for keeping in touch with friends and family as well as an occasion for looking at how as human beings we are treating our fellow human beings (and this can lead to a resolve to treat our fellow men and women better in the future: this is good in itself, even if we fail in that resolution). Also, in our secular society, it can be so easy to forget that Christmas (Christ Mass) is also a religious festival.
Anyway I hope the New Year brings you what you hope for.
Best wishes,
Kevin.

Delboy, I never tell people how they should live. I was merely responding to your post.
Best wishes,
