Dear Kara
Thank you for your posting.
We are not aware of specialists who are currently working to use stem cell therapy for mending worn hip cartilage. There was a clinical trial last year which used people with knee arthritis to have an operation to repair damaged cartilage using stem cell therapy. See http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/about_us/arthritis_news/press_releases/2010/oswestry_stem_cell_trial.aspx.
Arthritis Research may have more information on this, as well as the possibilities of using stem cells for repairing worn hip cartilage. They can be contacted at http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/home/contact_us.aspx.
I hope this helps.
Please give our helplines a call on 0808 800 4050 if you would like to have a chat or need more information.
Regards
