I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

My take on it is, if they don't mention it, they don't have it, and therefore should be ignored. Why talk about poker etc? Spammer. Simples. DD

Well I'll reply, since the first poster was obviously just a dirty old spammer - I'm also a kiwi, and lived in Auckland for ten years, though I was born and grew up in the South Island. I've been in the UK for just over five years now. In fact, my doctor constantly tells me I'd be better off living back there - his theory is that the polluted air over here is what's giving me chronic urticaria. The winters would probably make life easier on the arthritis front too. But what can you do - I love an Englishman, so I'm here to stay, for now.

Del, your signature has fooled me into attempting to squish the little bug on my screen on two occasions!

I don't know myself here - I'm used to hanging around on forums where everyone is really mean to each other, and it's viewed as some kind of coup if you manage to cut your debating opponent off at the knees. :P

Thanks once again for the super-friendly welcomes.

This is my only experience to-date of an interweb forum. I was made welcome when I joined - I reckon pain is a great leveller, there is no point-scoring here! It is a friendly place, the people here are very supportive and encouraging, because they understand what it is like to live with this pernicious disease. DD

    Hi Keren,

Welcome from me as well

Yep this is a friendly place and thankfully anyone that tries t cut someone down is dealt with as there are some good mods and then Jean. Its a good pace and stays safe to be your self and cry or scream as well as laugh.

Hope your having a reasonable time there and nice to meet you. Cris x
