Hi, well had my first acupuncture appt this morning. I'm achey now {think thats with doing exercises that I have been skipping LOL} but thats all. He wants to see me next Wed and will try the same again.....6 needles in for 35 mins and if it appears to work he says he'll do a full course. He did warn me i might feel sick when he took the needles out so not to go straight away...go and have a cup of tea/coffee first {I was OK} he also said i would feel drowsy this afternoon...I did but not sure if that was the acupuncture or lack of sleep that most of us suffer from. He also said I would probably be sore today but that wasnt unusual.
He put the needles in a kept popping in and "twiddling them" LOL every 10 mins or so.....Oh they are nice and red he said one time....They want a reaction of sorts. Trying to kick your own pain killers {endorphins} into action along with other things.
So we'll see how it goes.

Acupuncture can be very effective, and I hope that proves to be the case for you. I had a few sessions once, back in the very early days of this business, but it didn't do much. I hated the sensation when the needles were 'twiddled', it felt like pressing on a bruise, most uncomfortable. I think you can feel 'extra' tired after, it's a different kind of tiredness to the usual: I do after my massages, I drink a pint (of water, hileena, of water) then usually nod off - and it's quality sleep, not the usual restless pain-prodded slumber. I hope you feel the benefit soon. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi.......thanks for the replies....positive as well.
DD......you sure it was water LOL
The sensation didnt bother me....it was 35 mins just there on my side...sheer boredom
Today......I'm very achey......dont know whether its because I did a few more exercises or whether it is a good result from the acupunture.....time will tell.
The impression I get is that he will put 6 needles in next Wed then after that if it appears to be working he will use more....not sure yet.

Hi Hileena,
Its good if it works though.
I have a lot more needles than that and some really hit home but some don't as good but I make static and that's a good sign apparently
Its always worth a try and long ago I used to limp into cas with a patient, get stolen by one of the cas consultants, have some acupuncture and walk out sound so I know it can work really well.
I got 6 big ones then as many top us as I need.... I am lucky cus I seem to respond to needles well Hope so much it will help you. ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Hi Chris
Thanks.....got to admit didnt get immediate pain releif but I'm still hoping that I will.....I think that the 6 needles was more of a test than anything else....he gave the impression he would use more. Dont know anything about static but know they want a reaction from them.....I was on my side...they were in a V shape..one at coxix 2 going up on the right side and 2 on the left side.....I found I got more reaction fronm the ones on the right side.....ones on the left side...didnt seem to do anything....butnhe seemed pleased.....do you still go for it or not???

Hi Hileena,
I got 4 more real ones and then move on to the top ups.
The worse side had a better reaction. he did about 15 I think in the neck and shoulder... predominantly the left side, and then 2 in the hands.
I am very used to needles in the neck and back so ok with the number..... less than the botox ones Still say i must get my face in the way just once at least
I think I am just lucky... I don't mind needles and he uses small ones... the old cas consultants ones were a good 6 " long... I swear she put most of it in as well She was trained in China and sis a lot of alternative meds.... kept me in my job till the big accident that took out my back.
This one is more gentle
Fingers crossed for you flower.. mine is aimed at the muscles and maybe help with the bone pain but the muscles sadly have learned to not respond to steroid hence the botox... now that might be good for you? Love Cris xx0 -
Hi, I hope it works for you. I've had it, for an injury in my shoulder, years ago. My old GP did it then and it seemed to work. I felt tired afterwards, a bit like waves of sleepiness.
I did try once on my back but it was a long drive to get to the person and I didn't feel any better, so gave up. It may be the person wasn't so good or the problem didn't respond, I don't know, I'd try it again, though. lLove Sue0 -
Hi Hileena
Thanks for sharing this with us, I was asked by the pain clinic if I wanted the same, but I said no, I really do hope it works for you, I think I will go back and tell them I have changed my mind.
Good luck with it, and please keep us updated.

Hi Chris,
I'm fine with needles as well so thats a step forward...I used to nurse so was used to giving injections and with so many tabs etc am used to having blood taken to check drugs. The only times needles bothered me was when my 2 were little an d I had to take them for injections....that was different completely I held theirs arm out and turned my head away....so they can put as many needles in as they like if it works.
Hi Sue,Its about 12 miles there and 12 miles back {to the hospital I'm going to} but I was going to the same dept for physio and it was useless so maybe this will do some good
Hi Barbara...yes why dont you give it a try.......anything is worth a try if it relieves the pain
