Bird box.

I was sitting up in bed this morning, looking out of the window, when I noticed a couple of blue tits investigating our bird box. This has spent the last few years hidden by our neighbour's overhanging lilac branches, which were smothered in ivy, but the weight of snow before Christmas brought those down and the box is once more revealed. There was also much chasing and flying from said birds . . . . . . I hope they move in! DD

We have had three lots of residents, I was given the box as a 40th birthday present (a long time ago now) and it did take them a while to find it and accept it. I am not that hot on nature, animals etc but I did find some enjoyment in watching the parents working like daemons to feed the young, and listening to the babies raising Cane when they were hungry. All three sets of babies fledged on Cup Final day, oddly enough, so we missed all three events. This year, should we have guests, I will forgo the CF, and sit in the garden instead. Just in case. Hey DD that's great news
sadly we have nowhere safe to put bird boxes up (Our main walls face south and east so are too hot) otherwise hubby would be glued to the window watching for new arrivals
However, today we have purchased what appears to be enough bird feeding equipment to enable him to feed the entire bird population of East Yorkshire I fear they will be eating better than we will
I do hope you continue to see them, and that they do nest. No doubt they will choose the most inconvenient moment to fledge

I've seen 'em already this morning, one has been hopping in and out, I think he's trying to sell the idea to his mate: he flies off for a little conflab with another blue tit, then he whizzes back to the box, goes back to the other tit, then back again - I cannot remember if we emptied it the last time it was used and I think checking now could put them off. I will leave well-alone. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

we have had a bird box for years but it must be in the wrong place as they have never gone in it.
Takes them all their time to use the bird feeder station we bought for them, (quite a posh one at that....tut)
We do have cats roaming though.
Any one got any really good remedies to stop em coming in garden?
