Hi deborahjane,
nice to see you posting again but sorry you're having a tough time of it with arther and the diverticulitis.
From what you've said it sounds like you're in a lot of pain.. and that despite seeing your rheummy you're not too sure what's causing the painful hand/ wrist and lower back pain.
Sometimes rheummys decide on courses of treatments from their patient's presenting signs/ symptoms and don't always need to order xrays to confirm their diagnoses/ treatments.
The rheummy consultation hasn't answered your questions or helped you feel confident in the treatment....so perhaps it would be worthwhile making a double appointment with your GP? Explain how you're feeling and ask him if he could refer you for x rays... hopefully that will clarify what's happening in your joints.
good luck with your specialist appointment. Please let us know how you are.

Hi, hope you can get some answers and pain relief too.. I've had osteo a in my lower spine for many years along with my knees, the spine was diagnosed after I finally managed to get them to do an mri scan, xrays don't show as much detail... Funnily enough I was treated a lot better after that, like they finally believed me...
I now have real problems with pain in my hands and wrists and I've been told it's sero negative arthur.. I'm under the rheumy for that, have been since last march but to be honest not had any pain relief from it yet, go back tomorrow so will see what they say..
I have very same problem with eating, doctor just said it's ibs, it started off just being when I ate certain foods, mainly beef, but now it's any decent amount of anything and it's agony and off too the loo for half an hour..
My Mum has divaticular, I thought that's what might be wrong with me, not sure if it is heredatory or not though...
Be well...

Don't worry about going on, no point in giving us half the story.. I am glad that nothing sinister was found though.. I would definately do a double appointment with your GP, try and get some answers, have they given you anything for your stomach problems at all?
Be well....Me-Tony
