I was speaking to a leading Rheumy about Osteoporosis, she says they think they about 25% of the disease, so how much is known of the other arthritic diseases?
I suppose that must be a call to support charities and research groups who lead the quest for knowledge and who choose to support us, long may they do so.
Oh, and the OH made the G&T and it was wonderful!

In some respect us auto-immune bods are a little more straightforward regarding the cause of this pestilence, but even then sero-negative conditions (such as mine) complicate the diagnostic picture. I was lucky in that my CRP and ESR were always high, so there was no doubt that I had some form of inflammatory arthritis - the fact it couldn't be 'named' was an irritation but at least treatment was eventually initiated.
With OA, the cause could be much more straightforward. People are living longer, are much more active into their middle and later years, and bones wear out. I know that the skeleton replaces/renews itself, but surely that process slows with age, but why shouldn't there be a genetic pre-disposition to it too? That could explain its appearance in younger folk, plus the trauma aspect too. Arthritis runs in families, but ocasionally I suppose someone with no link to it can start it. Who would be a human? It's a complicated business! DD
Is there any real benefit in knowing why things happen?Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
