Today I've woken up in pain in every bad joint and I have an important exam this afternoon. I was nervous enough as it is because I haven't done an essay exam like this since I left school 4 years ago. I'm dosed up on co-codamol and I pray it won't make me too drowsy and dopey. Well, I'm always dopey actually!

I feel guilty asking but please can you send me some brain power and 'stay awake' power for this afternoon. I think I'm gonna need it.

THANK YOU my very lovely, special people.

Sophie xx

What time is the brain power required? I am sure you will be fine, keep ahead of the pain if you can - and write a note about it on your paper, they might make an allowance or two, you never know! I wish you well. DD

Sending as much brain power as I can Starburst. You will be fine flower once you get in there so try not to let it worry you too much.

Hope the pain will behave for you. Cris x

Hi Starburst good luck. We are on funeral duties this morning and exam duties this afternoon so anything that helps! I hope the meds help keep you relaxed as a positive and not drowsy.

    Good luck,

    Elizabeth

I would have come back and let you know what time but I was at college and can't seem to get on here on my phone. It went well, I think....I hope! *fingers crossed* (but only when they're not sore )

    Hi Sophie,

Glad it went ok for you. I bet you sleep tonight now it is all over. Do you have other assignments to complete?
I hope you do not have to wait too long before you get your results.

Arthur definitely does not like stress so well done for pushing on.

I do have other assignments to complete. I'm doing an Access to HE Diploma. Basically, it's a path to get into university because I did my A levels too long ago.

It was a sociology exam on health inequalities. I revised hard and feel cautiously confident. I'm not sure I will get a distinction but a merit would be lovely!!

Have a good day everyone. xx

I hope it went well, Starburst. This is just to let you know for future reference that you can have someone to write for you in exams. Needs setting up in advance though.

you can also get extra time - i'm never sure if this is prolonging the agony or not but it does enable you to take a sort rest and stretch fingers/ wrists etc
This is the route I went down - didn't always use the extra time but it was a comfort to have. You need to organise in advance with college disability officer

    Hi Starburst,

i'm sure you did great!!! on my second bout of higher education at present (doing a dental course so the evil university in their wisdom make us sit 'single best answer' exams) but when i did my previous degree i did get extra time to allow me to walk around if i needed it - could have had a scribe for if my fingers were too sore but as my knees were the only affected joints at the time i felt it would have been a bit lazy

In fact, even sitting for an hour was quite difficult this time around - so will most likely be looking into the extra time route myself! Just wanted to put it out there as food for thought because arthur doesnt like exams any more than we do

You're a very lovely, supportive bunch. Just wanted to say that. ;)

I do get 25% extra time and I get to use my laptop because my grip is pretty bad on my writing hand. Normally, I would have been ok but the last few days have been particularly bad. I'm in a flare after a couple of weeks of less pain. I did get a bit distracted because my ribs were sore and bothering me but not too badly. I popped 2 co-codamol (30mg ones!) right before the exam, which helped.

    xx

I hope you did really well in your exams!!

I too am studying on an access course - for counselling. I also aim for distinctions!!

Does stress affect your arthritis? I know mine certainly does. Makes me wonder how I am going to be when my exams come up...I have three in a row in may!!

Thank you. I did, I found out yesterday that I got distinction!

It does seem to make my arthritis worse. I was on hydroxy as well as mtx but I've come off hydroxy now because it makes me faint, so I'm waiting to see my rheumy and get put on a new drug. I hope it will ease up.

    Good luck with yours!
