Starting from today there are now online 360-degree virtual tours of some of the great art galleries of the world, with the ability to move from room to room and see the paintings and sculptures on display. Many can be viewed full screen. It is still a bit of a 'work in progress', but worth a look.

When you first visit the site you are given a close-up detail from a random painting which is confusing. Just click anywhere on the detail and it will then let you into the main site.

Thank you for that, Joseph. I didn't know about it, so I will love to look around the different galleries. As you know, I really enjoy looking at art of all kinds, and how super to be able to visit so many galleries on-line.

Thank you livinglegend, when the urge strikes I shall have a wander and a gander! As Joan says, no walking (fabulous) and no fat Yanks getting in the way and wondering why they didn't build the gallery closer to the airport (or MacDonalds - I heard both statements in Windsor a few years ago, re the Castle). The Groenninge Museum isn't there  I could have done with a virtual tour as I want to see the Jan Provoost picture Death and the Miser when I'm in Bruge next month.

One of my favourite galleries, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, is not on the list either, but I expect that more will be added in time.

Lucky you going to Bruges, Del! It's a lovely place.
