I had to share my good news with you all, especially after you were so kind as to read my rant last week. I've been having some problems with my rheumy and asked my GP to refer me to another local hospital. Unfortunately, my rheumy also decided he wanted to refer me somewhere else but I'm not sure if I'll go now because my appt today was good.
I saw a new rheumy today. She was lovely, spent 45 minutes examining me. She listened and explained everything and agreed that there are plenty of other medications I can try. My diagnosis was confirmed as seronegative RA. I noticed that she walked with a cane, so she clearly has some kind of disability too and was adamant that I need to get a better quality of life. My DAS score was worked out, I'd never even heard of that before! I got given a methotrexate book and leaflets, which I've also never been given before.
I'm going to increase my methotrexate to 20mg and see her again in 6 weeks after more bloods. Then, I'll be put on either sulphasalazine or leflunomide.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I desperately want to feel much better by September as I have an offer to do social work at university. I'm gonna need my strength and energy!

Hi Sophie
That is such good news, It dosnt take much does it, if only all appointments went so well...it would save a lot of suffering and stress.
Good for you, and make sure you keep the same rheumy.

Good news indeed - I wish you well with the increased meth, and I think the sooner you can boost that with sulph or lef the better. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
