Fuming!! Jobs worth traffic warden

Well I went for my nerve test at the LGI here in Leeds.. Parked in the council pay and display on carveley street outside the hospital, the disabled bays were all taken... I put both badge and clock out correctly, even though I know full well I don't have to put the clock out when parked in those particular pay and display because you can park in them 24hrs a day.. I always put both out though just in case... Badge was the right way up etc etc... Guess what I had on mi windscreen as I got back to the car, bloody ticket, the reason according to the ticket is I wasn't displaying a pay and display ticket or voucher, I don't bloody need one!! Grrrrr
I rang the number on the back straight away, explained everything to the nice woman on the other end, she confirmed everything I already knew, that I was quite in my rights to be there.. She said I would have to appeal in writing though.. I took a photo of the ticket and my badges also in same shot as the idiot had put the ticket right near them, so he/she couldn't claim they dint see the badges...
I'm going to do it all by email and send a copy of the photo too.
I'm bloody livid. And it takes a lot to wind me up.
I actually sat waiting almost an hour for the idiot to come back, even told the woman I was waiting, I think she could tell I was angry, she flapped a but and said that I shouldn't do that because I might collar the wrong person.. and besides that there would be nothing they could do about the ticket now....
One, I had their badge number on the ticket so I would have made sure that I copped for the right one..
Two, I dint expect them to do owt about the ticket there and then but I did want the idiot to explain to me why they had done it in the first place.........

Never turned up though...

So I'm going to appeal, obviously, via email and include the photo I took, also going to put am official complaint against the warden for incompetence... And I want to know what reason they have put for ticketing me in their notes, the lady on the phone said that they always make notes...

Fifty quid, me thinks not....... Take me to bloody court if ya want.

As long as disabled badge holders don't have to pay then you should be fine. Rules and regulations vary so much, did you also take a picture of the sign where it tells you that? I hope it is rescinded, and soon. Keep a copy of everything you send 'em Tony, but hey I guess you know to do that. I am so sorry. DD

Does ya head in when people have a job to do but don't do it properly.
I hope you get an apology from the person who issued you the ticket, thats the least they can do..

This is the 2nd post I have read this week about over zealous traffic wardens! Sorry that its happened to you, I think that you are right to appeal immediately but would also add the photo of the displayed parking rules like DD says. Good Luck and keep us up to date

Hi folks, well I think I have calmed down a bit now.. Haha..
The only signs around refer to the pay and display part, I know that the policy in Leeds is that the on-street pay and display council bays are definately free for disabled....

I am going to do all correspondence via email so I have a copy of everything...
Oh, I wish that they had come back while I was still parked there.. I even warned two other disabled drivers to be aware of the gestapo on patrol..

Maybe they hope you will just pay up.

I was at the hospital today too and told OH to be careful of the wardens out to get you, regardless.

Many years ago my dad got a parking ticket while he was walking to the parking machine to get a ticket and he lost his case in court. He went that far cos he was so bl**dy angry.



Tony as long as your appeal works then all will be well but it does put you under extra pressure that need not be...

This gonna sound stupid to all you lot,but does the Blue Badge cover the same rules all over the country,or is it just within the boundries of the council that allowed you to have one?? :oops: I also noticed yesterday when I went to my local Asda that 5 disabled bays were taken up by cars that had no badges displayed at all :!: :!: I was good this time and just parked where I could find a space,avoiding another run in with the mother and child parking senario :!: :!: So temper kept in check Mirabella

Cheers Joseph, my response will be calm and proffesional, unlike the rant I had in the car the whole drive home, needless to say that I was assuming the traffic warden responsible's parents weren't married when they were born :shock:

Mirabella, your badge will work all over Europe but you have to check the local rules, it used to be that ALL local council on street pay and display were free, some multi storey ones too but just in case I would check it out... I know that London definately has different rules, typical Southerners, gotta be 'special' :eek: :shock: Now now all you Southern folk, keep ya knickers on, you know I am jesting (ahem )

As for the car aprk, Asd4 are supposed to fine anyone not displaying a badge, though the laws around them doing so is a bit of a grey area, but you should have reported them, really annoys the hell out of me does that..

Aww Tony,
They are just jumped up idiots, i had a parking ticket, objected by email, blahblah, didnt hear anything and i was thinking whats happening should of heard by now, as there are time limits etc, so i emailed saying i hadnt heard anything, and how strange..... they didnt get my email???? :shock: :roll: so ask them for a reply to say they got it! also on the parking ticket it tells you the code for your 'naughty behaviour' so you can look up what it is for.

According to the ticket, what I did wrong was not display a valid pay and display ticket or voucher....

I don't need one..........
Even the woman on the phone knew I was right, and as she said, I didn't even have to set the clock as I can park there for 24hrs if I like :roll:
I will be getting Mrs Tony to do the email for me, just in case I get a tad angry again while writing it

No hun, I am more sensible than that, lol... Don't know how much control I would have had today though if I had seen the responsible fool.. My usual demenour was somehow absent :shock:
