Carpal Tunnel & my mum

Was thinking where to put this, but since she doesnt have arthritis, i classified it as chit chat if thats ok!

My mums just had a 2nd Op on her wrist for carpal tunnel, first one was local aesthetic but didn't work and she was in loads of pain after it. They operated on her again today under general aesthetic to (hopefully) fix her problem.

Anyway, I'm going to visit her for the weekend, from tomorrow (4 day weekend - yay!) and just wondered if anyone here has had similar, and how is she likely to feel? How much TLC is required? :) Would she want retail therapy over the weekend, or do I plan to make her yummie foods and stay in with movies?

Thanks for ur support!

oo yea, she really didn't like that test - said it was awful, some electric current through her hand or something? I remember her saying that last year when she was tested.

You know she is so stubborn, she's had numb hands and pins and needles and sore neck ect for a long time and doesn't like to bother the docs... now im worried that even if the doc can fix her problem, some damage will remain. I can't tell her, parents are so stubborn :p

ChitChat comes under the 'non arthritis chat for people with arthritis' heading, so this is the right place to be.

She may still be feeling a bit tired at the weekend after a general anaesthetic, So I would suggest yummie foods and movies. Feet up and enjoy. t19121.gif

    Hi
I had both my carpal tunnels done at the same time in Nov so nearly fully recovered
Wouldnt recommend any1 to have both done
Your Mum might still have a big bandage on I had mine on for 8 days
Still went shopping with Hubby got some strange & some sympathetic looks but was glad to get out of the house
My main problem was cutting food up felt a little helpless
But a little retail therapy sounds good as does the TLC at home
Let us know how you both get on

THanks all for your help. My mum seems fine with her wrist. and i love her to bits.

But i just had to walk away from them both just now, she is such a difficult woman to live with and treats my dad like s*** i cant take the stress and im getting all worked up and im flaring so im in bed hiding away.

    examples:
Since my mum cant work, dad is doing double jobs working early AM at their shop, coming home 9am, goes out cleaning windows, comes back 1pm, and then back at the shop 2pm-6pm to close up. THis morning he changed his mind about coming with us after his work to visit our cousin in hospital... she goes crazy with him, really raising her voice and being so bitter telling him he cant just go chaning plans etc etc.. i was like seriously, chill, i'll text my aunt to let her know, we can go earlier no problem!

Tonight - again a flare up of evil from her because my dad didn't want our 70yo neighbour to vacuum the front of our shop for us while he finished up... she gets a lift back with him in the evening after visiting family in hospice. My mum was mad because he didnt let her vaccum and really was evil with him...

my dad is a great guy, and yea he can get depressed and moody sometimes, but i think i would also if i had to put up with that daily.

    /end vent.
