On the dot of 12 noon today, I was honoured to receive a Royal Visit.

Tony and his lovely wife, Janet, deigned to call in to my humble abode. They arrived in style in their brand-new luxurious car, and they even granted me the opportunity to sit in the driving seat for a few minutes so that I could experience how the other half lives. Following this, their majesties allowed me to cook lunch for them, and they stayed for many hours of friendly chat and laughter afterwards. What lovely people they are :!:
I feel very honoured to know them

We were joined by those other well-known VIP's, none other than Nina Kang and her three gorgeous daughters, all of whom dazzled us with their beauty, wit, and intelligence. Much food was consumed, much wine and Tetley's tea ( Tony's tea by Royal Appointment ) was drunk, and much riotous laughter was heard.

All too soon it was time for the royal party to retire to their beds, but before they all left, many photographs were taken to record this momentous occasion for posterity.

What a wonderful day :!:

Joan

Hi folks, I would just like to say that Mrs Lawson and her hubby certainly do deserve the Royal seal of approval... The Royal we we (there were two of us, lol) had a wonderful day, it was great to meet them all. Joan makes a lovely cup of Tetleys, bought I'm especially for myself... Lol
We all got on very well, it was like we had all known each other for years.. We have made some true friends me thinks... All thanks to arthur, so the bugger does have his uses eh? :???: :lol:
It was the least we could do to allow Joan to sit in the Royal carriage..
We are planning on taking the scenic route back to Leeds today, it is very petty around here.
Gotta be out of the hotel by ten, had the pain meds and I'm waiting for them to do their measly best before getting up and out...
Cup of Tetleys too of course, lol

We have indeed had a great time.... Many thanks once again to Mr and Mrs Lawson, Nina and her lovely three girls...

I'm still indeed a happy chappy, lol

I'm pleased to receive the Royal Seal of approval, especially for my tea-making abilities. A high honour indeed :!:

I hope that you have a good day today, Tony, and enjoy the journey through Derbyshire back home.

I'm intending to have a quiet day today eating all the leftovers. There's only so much excitement a girl can take in one weekend :!: :lol:

Yes I agree, and thanks to this site as well.

I think it's great that you were able to meet and that you all got on so well together. This forum is a good place for 'meeting' people in similar boats, but to actually get together is a wonderful thing to be able to do. I have met one person so far, I would like to meet more, but the geography gets in the way! I know a couple of people who are not far from me and once things improve it would be good to meet - gawd knows if they would feel the same tho! DD

Hi Joan, DD... Hope you are both well.. We got home about an hour ago, drove to matlock first, had some breakfast there, then a quick trip to bakewell.. Them home on the a roads, scenic route up into Sheffield.. Then M1 home.. Apart from the last part of the journey the scenery was lovely.
We see both very tired indeed now and I'm paying the price somewhat too.. Never mind, had such a nice time it was definitely worth it..
DD, it's your fault you live at the back end of beyond, lol
If you weren't so awkward to get to we might have met up too, could buy you a pint :lol:

    Thanks Joan..
    His Royal highness... Lol

Tony, I didn't plan on ending up in Suffolk tho I am damn glad I did! I like the fact the coast is not far away and I like the very big skies that we get round here, tho I must admit they are better in Norfolk (I am working on getting Mr DD to retire there). My auntie lives in Leeds, so if we go to see her we could pop in to see you? Perhaps?

coco, where are you now? I know you moved before Christmas, was that in the same locality or somewhere different? AC members (on here) are far-flung, we stretch from Cornwall to Orkney, with the odd Spanish ex-pat thrown in. A mass getting-together would be something, yes? DD

DD, you live in a lovely part of the country, so I'm very envious. I also love Norfolk, and have spent many happy holidays there, especially when our children were young.

You would be very welcome to come to see me, but my computery skills are a bit limited :!:  I do make a good cup of tea though, as Tony will confirm

DD, let us know if you plan a visit to see your Aunty, we can put the kettle on...
And, I can confirm that both Mr & Mrs Lawson make an excellent cup of tea, of which I had several through the day, probably used up most of the teabags that Joan bought in specially for me bless her...
Can you just imagine a mass meeting DD???? The locals at wherever we met wouldn't know what was going on.... There would be a convoy of sticks, crutches, wheelchairs & scooters, lol...
It would be a sight to behold...

Now, Barbara, what makes you think that I have paid Joan a vast sum of money to tell you all that I am awesome
