Hi everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone else on this forum suffers from Hip Impingement.....I am trying to connect with others who have this condition........I also have arthritis in my knee and fingers and now worry it is in my spine too.
I have recently suffered a extremely painful back problem, which is still not right after a month.......it is all starting to affect me mentally now too. I am afraid even to do anything in case I make myself worse.
Sorry for ranting.........just need some support

Angilee

    Hi Angilee
I suffer from OA of the hips one knee and my spine, and recently I am having trouble with my thumbs....but I think back around 15 years...and it all started in my thumbs...and then went away till around 2 and a half years ago.
I am waiting to have my first THR.
Have you been back to your GP since your back became painful, I would go and see what he says.
    Good Luck

    Hi Angilee...

Just wanted to say it's ok to rant, thats what we are all here for, to support eachother..
I know what it is like to suffer with your fingers... It can be a def pain in the bum... it gets me down sometimes too as i am only 31 and it has had a huge impact on my life..
You are only human and are not perfect so having a down day is perfectly acceptable lol.. :P
About the back pain i don't really suffer that much, more aching than pain, but it sounds like you have been suffering so maybe a trip to the doctors is in order..
What are you taking pain wise??

    Hi Angilee
I do not have hip impingement but I do have a very painful back which I now know is caused by Lumbar and Cervical sponylosis(osteoarthitis) I also have OA in my wrist and thumbs (and think that my knees and hip are desperate to join in too) I first started with my back 20 years ago when I had such awful pain and spasms I was in bed for 6 weeks. I was not given any treatment neither were any investigations undertaken - I have had regular problems on and off until just before christmas when it went completely I am now suffering chronic pain have been told that physio wont help and my GP says I may never again be pain free. I have difficulty walking and have to be careful about doing too much or too little excercise

Due to my experiences I would urge you to get your back pain checked out asap get a diagnosis and get treatment to stop deteroiration later on

    Good Luck

Hi Angilee, chronic pain is so so draining it literally grinds you down. I don't have the same problems as you but do suffer from inflammatory arthritis and cervical spondylosis, so do suffer from pain.

Please speak to your gp, there are so many different types of pain meds. You can be referred to a pain clinic, physio and OT to show you different ways of doing things.

When pain stops you living your life then it is definitely time to seek advice.

Let us know how you get on.

    Take care

Hi Angilee, welcome to the forum, sorry to hear that you are suffering so much, you really must get back to the GP and try and maybe get referred to the pain clinic... I have had osteo in my knees and spine for way too many yrs and don't remember the last totally pain free day I had.. Sadly most pain meds don't take it away, some do however make it bareable.. Hopefully you will get something sorted soon

Let us know how you go on

    Be well

    Hi Angilee,
I can well understand your reluctance to do anything that would aggravate your back. It must have been very frightening for you.
Can you get a referral from your GP? Pain can wear you down so it’s not surprising you are feeling so low.
I’m sorry I cannot offer much in the way of advice as I have RA and have little experience with O.A.
    Take care,

I can assist with fingers and knees, I must admit the hands thing does distress me, without them you can't do anything. I have been exercising my knee and as long as I don't push too much it's just painful, doesn't get too painful. My electric bike has a 'throttle' and whizzes me along when I'm sore or tired of peddling, I think it has helped my stamina overall, certainly my breathing but the bits that hurt, still hurt, I'm just doing things to take my mind off them.
