Blue Badge medical

Blue Badges are a godsend. I note reports 'leaked' to the press that we are to have a new medical, for the badge, that won't save much money, will it? Some civil servant has worked out that 50% of blue badges are not deserved, well, getting rid of 50% might, but having fewer and charging £10 won't balance the books either.

Can there be any other group that is subjected to so much, questioning/medical/interviews by non-medical personnel to receive benefits? Think of the train of events, we must must go through to live our lives, hardly joined up thinking, is it? Surely, all the information in one place, collated and used for our benefit would work? Might even work out cheaper?

I really cannot understand the sense (or the cost) of the numerous duplications disabled people have to endure. DLA forms, evidence and medicals, ESA forms, evidence, and Medicals, Now medicals for Blue Badge. Surely if you are disabled you are disabled - for some that may be short term, disability may become more profound and along with this it is right that alterations should be made - be that benefit entitlement, support or aids and adaptations but surely in this day and age - and more importantly in this financial climate it could be centralised to one department saving time money and distress.

Well said, Cath, much more eloquent than me! If indeed it is help we are receiving, then why oh why are we put through so many hoops? Almost feels as though, it is done so we will get fed up and go away?

    Total madness.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Also coming along is the 'Concessionary Bus Passes and Public Funding of Bus Services' a review of public spending for the elderly and disabled on public bus services. The Public Spending review is looking at the Bus Services Operators Grant which is at present about 20%, have a guess what will happen to your disabled persons concessionary ticket!

On 17th Feb. in parliament will also be a review of 2nd state pensions along with the Civil Service Pensions, whether to change them from RPI to CPI which is used at a lower rate of percentage increase. I'm going to be hit twice there, even though I have paid for my pension.

The Tories may well give me the type of political government I want for my country but I shall be a lot poorer for it. If you will be affected by any of this, contact your MP before the 17th Feb and let them know your anger.

    Hi,
I voted for a political party, no mention of reducing my pension that I am already in receipt of or the other that I will receive. I am not using the bus pass but am concerned for others who need to and cuts to services that affect the whole community and across the country.

The present bill for allowing a Labour controlled government is at present about £2.5 trillion, this is money spent on us, that is owed. I cannot truly say I agree with any of the three main parties but must opt for what I see as the best at the time. I think the new voting system may well change the political system in this country and by making them have to work together and stop the vicious seesawing between left of centre and right of centre after every election. I had hoped that the incoming party would do things that were good for us and the country not just their political party. I can see a sense in what is being done, but at the end of the day, people are more important.

No, I don't need sympathy, just a fairer society.
