My much long waited for rheumatology appiontment was this morning. Didnt really get off to a good start as i didnt get to bed last night as my youngest was vomiting and retching all night, had the washing machine going to wash bedding and bathed the poor little man twice! He had to come with me but thankfully slept for most of the time.
BP was high as was heartrate and they also confirmed I have lost a stone in the last few months so she thinks there is something else going on making me feel awful.
The good news is that my sore fingers are more fibromyalgia related and to check she did and ultrasound which showed all was well. She also thinks the same can be said for sore wrists, elbows and shoulders. Then as always there had to be the bad news :( after saying to physio last week I am dreading a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis as this often goes hand in hand with ulcerative colitis - this is what she thinks may well be wrong. So left clinic a bit blue and sad, but with forms for xrays, MRI and bloods I am hoping it wont be too long until I know either way. I am delighted that not all my pain is inflammatory arthritis but am now scared of the results. At least I know that after all this time of pain it was not me just moaning! Also Iam starting new tablets ???celebrix or something sounding like that, which hopefully wont irritate my stomach too much. I hope I didnt sound too wimpish listing all my problems to her but i thought well its taken long enough to get here, in for a penny in for a pound! take care all x

Spacey, first off your rheumy sounds brilliant. Ordering all the tests etc and doing a scan there and then. It sounds as though they really want to get to the bottom of things for you.

Secondly, it must be a shock to hear the news about possible ankylosing spondylitis. It is one thing to think it but another to hear it. At least you will find out quickly one way or the other and be able to start treatment for it.

Give yourself time to adjust and I seriously doubt the rheumy thought you were wimpish!!

    Wish you all the best.

    Hi Spacey
No I dont think you're wimpish - pain is an awful thing and, it is hard to explain to others so that they understand. I know you have been thinking it may be a/s and your Rheumi seems to think that it is worth checking out. However keep positive and the tests that you will have will sort out a final diagnosis which whatever it is will be a shock and you will need to adjust, but you will and we will all be here to support you
Hope your little one is feeling better too
