Good evening all,

I'm so sorry i just need to moan to people that understand!!!
I was having trouble with my THR and seems it is rubbing on some tendons so have been having physio to try and resolve it ...

Unfortunately during this two discs in my back have herniated (due to changes in posture) and has left me with sciatica affecting my 'good' leg!
Currently (as my Dr puts it) I dont have a good leg to stand on.
I've had a week off work and have been signed off for another two and will then be reviewed.

Why do things never go smoothly for those of us facing Arthur?!

Sorry, i just feel so angry and miserable at the moment, im very much the glass is always half full person, but this is knocking it out of me!

    Hi I,
No wonder you are feeling down. Ouch and double ouch, you are really going through it there.
Yes you are right you try and get something to ease the problem and Arthur finds somewhere else to prod.
I hope you have some help at home as it cannot be easy to do anything with both legs affected. Has the doctor said if there is anything you can try to help with the recovery?
Hang on in there and fingers crossed things will improve for you soon.
    Gentle hugs,
    Ix

    Hi Missi
I am very sorry to hear of your troubles, you are justified in feeling a little bit angry for the pain and convenience your problems are causing you. We all have days (weeks, months) like this and everyone of us wishes that things could be "Normal" again. However the reality is that itis unlikely to be so adjustments, physically and emotionally have to be made.

That is why this site is so valuable, we can moan and rant, gain advice and share all manner of lifes experiences - and you will find that everyone is so supportive -- and very, very funny. Finding this site was the best thing I ever did.

    Oh Miss_I,

you really have got it bad at the moment. All I can suggest is to take your pain meds and relax. Hopfully it will give yous sciatica a bit of time to calm down.

Heres hopinf for a better day for all.

    Miss I
how i sympathise with you, i could feel the pain again when i read your post. I had sciatica down my right leg 2 years ago. The pain is absolutely awfull, you deserve to moan and rant and shout and scream!
I did find that tens worked a little right at the begining worth a try mayb.
I had it for 5 months and then they operated to free the nerve, anethetist told me after that he had never seen such a bad case. I didnt feel so bad then about hastling doc all the time about pain!
Take your meds and try to find a position that mayb lessens pain a bit for a while, to give you a breather. I found kneeling on floor bent over with my head at the back of the sofa seat. Helped a bit. Also bead bags that you heat in microwave, i couldnt have gone on with out this.
I hope you find some of this usefull. anything is worth a try when pain is involved.
    All the best

    Hi Miss l

I am so sorry things are so shift for you at them moment.

It must feel like one thing after another for you.

Let's hope the physio can help a bit with those tendons.

I guess your best bet IS what the others have said; take your meds particularly not forgetting your anti-iflams and rest as much as poss - try to relax as much as you can. NOT an easy suggestion l know.

What l will say is I am so gald your doc HAS taken it serioulsy will mean that you are getting help. I was ignored for too long and still have nerve damage because of my back and sort of permanent sciatica lovley

    You have all mysympathy

    Love

Thank you allfor you kind words and understanding!

My mood is a little better today, think i just needed to get the frustration out of my system!! Its so down heartening to be suffering 18months after the THR, complications werent part of the plan! :???:

Im dosed well on painkillers and using percy perg wheat bag and Mr.Bump ice pack who are doing an excellent job!
Unfortunately i live alone and am 50 miles away from family :( Im going 'home' to be looked after later - feel at 29 it should be me looking after my parents not the other way around!

Thank you for the advice ... will try anything!

    xx

don't feel bad about being looked after by your family. My parents drove 6 hours each way so they could look after me once I had my surgery.
Any help you can get is a blessing.

    Lokk after yourself.

Well I am pleased that you are going home for a break. I know it is not ideal but I think you need a bit of TLC and I expect your parents will be pleased to have you with them so they can fuss over you.
    Take care,

Hi I am sorry you are struggling with the pain, I get sciatic pain from my back, so I know how bad this can be, the only thing that worked for me was the anti inflams, but my GP took me off them.
I do hope you get some relief very soon, please let us know how you get on.
